A gaming system includes a backplane and one or two additional PCBs that plug into the backplane. A first PCB includes a CPU and three PCIe edge connectors that plug into corresponding sockets on the backplane. One connector separates power and ground on either side of the connector's key. Another connector carries high-speed differential video signal pairs separated by ground to video ports on the backplane. The third connector carries CPU-related signals and at least one signal specific to a gaming machine housing the backplane. An optional second PCB plugs into the first PCB and backplane and provides gaming I/O functionality. The second PCB features a repurposed PCIe connector in which the first upper and last lower pin need to be activated to place the second PCB in operation. The first and second PCBs lack any connectors that receive external cables. Cable connections inside the gaming machine are made on the backplane.

A gaming terminal includes a housing defining an exterior of the gaming terminal. The gaming terminal includes one or more displays disposed along the housing. The one or more displays are adapted to display, in response to a wager, a wagering game. The gaming terminal also includes a substantially closed interior enclosure disposed within the housing. The interior enclosure includes walls formed from electrically conductive material. The interior enclosure can be substantially closed. The gaming terminal further includes one or more signal-emitting components disposed within the interior enclosure and emitting a level of electromagnetic signals. A transmission of electromagnetic signals from the substantially closed interior enclosure is less than the level of electromagnetic signals emitted from the one or more signal-emitting components.

Techniques for protecting wagering game machines from electrostatic discharge are described herein. In some embodiment, a wagering game machine includes a wagering game controller configured to present wagering games upon which monetary value can be wagered. The wagering game machine can also include a button panel that includes a first printed circuit board (PCB) connected to an electrical ground and a second PCB connected to the first PCB by a conductive connector. The button panel can also include a display device connected to the second PCB, an actuator connected to the second PCB, a cap in contact with the actuator, wherein the display device is visible through the cap, and a bezel to retain the cap, where the bezel is coupled to a panel.

Protecting wagering game machines from electrostatic discharge

Systems and methods for processing input in a wagering game machine are described herein. In some embodiments, an apparatus comprises a button panel for a wagering game machine. The button panel comprises a main button circuit board. The button panel also comprises at least one socket mounted to the main button circuit board. The button panel comprises a number of display components plugged into the at least one socket, wherein each display component comprises a display coupled to a display circuit board, wherein at least one switch used to determine a button press is mounted on each display circuit board.

Gaming terminals, gaming systems, display device support assemblies, and methods of mounting a display device to a gaming terminal are presented herein. A gaming terminal for playing a wagering game is disclosed. The gaming terminal includes a cabinet, an input device for receiving wagers to play the wagering game, and a display device for displaying information related to the wagering game. The gaming terminal also includes a mounting assembly which affixes the display device proximate the top of the cabinet. The mounting assembly pivotably supports the display device such that a lateral side of the display device can be selectively swung from a first position over the top of the cabinet to a second position over a front of the cabinet where the display device is removable from the cabinet.
