A system for collecting data from a machine lacking network connectivity may comprise a mobile vehicle. The mobile vehicle may be configured for providing a vehicle communication network to a data hauling device of the machine, the machine being remote from a stationary site having a site-specific communication network. The mobile vehicle may further be configured for retrieving data from the data hauling device via the vehicle communication network, detecting the site-specific communication network, and uploading the retrieved data to the stationary site using the site-specific communication network.

Systems and methods for obtaining data from machines disconnected from a network

A method is provided for operating a power system. The method includes receiving an operator request for a propulsion direction change. The method also includes directing power into a power source and reducing a supply of fuel to the power source while directing power into the power source. The method further includes basing a first threshold speed on a speed of the power source produced by directing power into the power source and increasing the supply of fuel to the power source when the speed of the power source falls below the first threshold speed.

Machine control system with directional shift management

A method is provided for operating a power system. The method includes receiving an operator request for a propulsion direction change. The method also includes selecting a power boost map in response to the propulsion direction change request. The power boost map increases the power rating of a power source of the power system. In addition, the method includes directing power into the power source. The method further includes regulating the power system and accelerating a power source speed according to the power boost map when the power is no longer being directed into the power source.

In common rail fuel injection systems, a sensed rail pressure is used to determine control signals to produce desired injection characteristics. Because rail pressure fluctuates, especially during cold start procedures, and because the rail pressure must be sensed before the injection event to be controlled, the accuracy of the timing and quantity of the injection event can be compromised if the rail pressure at the start of the injection event is different from the sensed rail pressure. In order to produce more accurate fuel injection characteristics, the rail pressure is sensed after the end of control signal for an immediately preceeding injection event but at least a predetermined time before the start of control signal for a succeeding injection event. Since the rail pressure is sensed close in time to the succeeding injection event but with adequate time to do control signal determination calculations, the accuracy in quantity and timing of the succeeding injection event can be improved because the quality of the sensed rail pressure is improved.
