According to examples, an apparatus may include a memory on which is stored instructions that when executed by a processor, cause the processor to access a digital file identifying a first plurality of parts to be fabricated in a first level of a build volume in a three-dimensional (3D) fabrication operation and a second plurality of parts to be fabricated in a second level of the build volume. The processor may also determine a first usage of a plurality of nozzles corresponding to fabrication of the first plurality of parts in the first level of the build volume and determine a modification to a property of the second plurality of parts to be fabricated in the second level of the build volume to have a second usage of the plurality of nozzles that differs from the first usage.

A sample test device is provided that includes a body having an insertion surface spaced apart from a distal end portion and a fluid manipulating assembly disposed in the distal end portion. A mixing receptacle is defined in the fluid manipulating assembly and provides a volume to mix a test mixture. A plunger is disposed in the body and creates a positive air pressure in the mixing receptacle when inserted into the body. A test die is disposed in the fluid manipulation assembly and a fluid path extends from the mixing receptacle to the test die. Activation of the plunger creates a positive pressure in the mixing receptacle to force the test mixture to flow from the mixing receptacle to the test die.

Test sample devices and methods

Examples of a printhead assembly are disclosed herein. An example of the printhead assembly includes a die to print, a base member, and at least one electrode. The electrode may be used to provide a charge to attract and collect particles that would normally otherwise interfere with operation of the die.

In one example, a die structure can comprise a die having a plurality of die slots, the die having polymer ribs attached to one side thereof, wherein the polymer ribs are attached using a polymer film on one side of the die, said polymer film having portions removed along the die slots to form the polymer ribs which bridge the die slots, thereby forming a plurality of polymer bridged die slots.

A fluid ejector device, including: a fluid nozzle layer defining an orifice therein; and at least one epoxy resin layer established on the nozzle layer, the at least one epoxy resin layer having first and second opposed surfaces with a thickness there between and a fluorine gradient formed therein such that the gradient extends into at least a portion of the thickness of the at least one epoxy resin layer, wherein an amount of a fluorinated species present in the at least one epoxy resin layer at the first opposed surface is greater than an amount of the fluorinated species present in the at least one epoxy resin layer at the second opposed surface that is adjacent the fluid nozzle layer.

Fluid ejector device

A method of forming an opening through a substrate includes defining an area on a first surface of the substrate where the opening is to be formed, the area having a center region flanked by edge regions. A top layer having a substantially closed space located over the area is formed on the first surface. Structure for promoting etching of the center region is provided, and the first surface of the substrate is etched in the area. In one embodiment, the method can fabricate an inkjet printhead having a substrate having an ink feed hole formed therethrough and an orifice plate formed thereon. A plurality of particle tolerance elements located over a center region of the ink feed hole promoted etching during the fabrication of the printhead.

A method of manufacturing a fluid ejection device includes providing a barrier layer and an orifice layer on a substrate, laminating a layer of photo-resist over a substantially planar surface of the orifice layer, forming an orifice in the orifice layer, and forming a counterbore in the layer of photo-resist, with forming a counterbore in the layer of photo-resist including exposing a portion of the substantially planar surface of the orifice layer within the counterbore.

Method of manufacturing fluid ejection device with dry-film photo-resist layer

A fluid ejection device includes a fluidic layer assembly mounted to a substrate, the fluidic layer assembly having a raised portion formed on a side that faces away from the substrate. A first nozzle is formed through a portion of the fluidic layer assembly other than the raised portion, and a second, larger nozzle is formed through the raised portion. A method of fabricating a fluid ejection device includes applying a first layer of a photoresist material to a substrate and a second layer of a photoresist material to the first layer. A sequence of exposures defines a first region of soluble material in the first layer that becomes the first nozzle and second and third regions of soluble material in the first and second layers, respectively, that jointly become the second nozzle. A region of insoluble material in the second layer becomes the raised portion.

Fluid ejection devices and methods of fabrication

A printhead having a plurality of drop generators formed on a substrate. Each drop generator includes a nozzle, and the nozzles are arranged in a dual inline architecture. In one embodiment, a column of nozzles includes a first group of nozzles located at a first axial position relative to a scan axis and a second group of nozzles located at a second axial position relative to the scan axis so that all nozzles in the column are located at either the first axial position or the second axial position. The distance along the scan axis between the first axial position and the second axial position is set to reduce dot placement error.

Printhead and method of printing

Methods and systems for forming compound slots in a substrate are described. In one exemplary implementation, a structure contains a plurality of slots in a substrate. The structure also has a trench in the substrate contiguous with the plurality of slots to form a compound slot.

A method of forming a tapered bore an orifice layer of a photo-resist comprises forming a lens in a surface of a first unexposed portion of the layer and exposing the first unexposed portion through a bore-hole mask to define an exposed portion and a second unexposed portion, wherein the second unexposed portion has a tapered shape. The layer is baked to cross-link the exposed portion and developed to remove the second unexposed portion to form a tapered bore hole. The tapered bore hole has a shape corresponding to the tapered shape.
