A shear web for a wind turbine blade includes a lower flange, an upper flange and a web structure extending between the lower and upper flanges, wherein at least one of the lower flange, upper flange, and the web structure includes an open lattice structure having a plurality of elongate fibrous composite spindles intersecting each other at multiple nodes of the structure. A method of making the shear web using a continuous fiber-reinforced additive manufacturing method is also disclosed.

A method of trimming a production flange () from a wind turbine blade () during manufacture of the wind turbine blade (). The method comprises mounting a self-propelled flange trimming apparatus () on the production flange () and using a drive system () of the apparatus () to propel the apparatus () along the production flange (). A directional control system controls the direction of the apparatus () and a cutting tool () cuts through the production flange () as the apparatus () travels along the production flange (). Also, a self-propelled production flange trimming apparatus () comprising a carriage () with a drive member (), a directional control system, and a cutting tool () attached to the carriage (). A system comprising a wind turbine blade moulding () and a trimming apparatus () mounted on the production flange () of the moulding ().

Method and apparatus for wind turbine blade production flange trimming

A mill bit for the manufacture of a wind turbine blade includes an elongate based body having a proximal end, a distal end, an outer surface, and an internal bore that defines an inner surface, one or more flutes formed on the outer surface that defines one or more teeth, and an abrasive coating on at least a portion of the outer surface, wherein the one or more flutes are free of the abrasive coating. An abrasive coating may be selectively applied on the inner surface to provide flutes on the inner surface. Additionally, porting bores may be provided through the mill bit to fluidly connect the outside and inside of the mill bit. A method of making a mill bit is also described.
