A hand-held bagel slicer is described for circumferentially slicing a bagel into two equal halves. The slicer comprises a generally U-shaped clip attached to a handle. The clip comprises a generally semi-circular bight and two flexible legs. The legs converge slightly from the bight to their free ends to hold the bagel sideways, and the free ends are outwardly flared to facilitate insertion of the bagel for slicing. Midway between the two legs is a 2 edged knife blade. The blade has a base secured to the bight and a tip terminating in a point. The blade is about 50 to 75% of the length of the legs. The free end of the handle is generally elliptical in cross section. The handle decreases in cross-sectional size and becomes generally rectangular in shape toward the flared end. The clip is joined to a core which has one or more small cross ribs extending laterally from a center rib to match with a similarly shaped recess in the handle to prevent relative rotation between the handle and the clip. Proper tension for holding the bagel while slicing is maintained by controlling the thickness of the clip in the region of the bight.

Bagel slicer

A device for removing a cork from a stoppered bottle utilizes a lever and a cam to drive a helical corkscrew into a cork, to withdraw the cork, and then to strip the cork from the corkscrew. The device comprises a housing having a bell-shaped opening to be placed over the mouth of the bottle. A lever has a semi-circular gear at one end which is pivotally joined to the housing. The gear engages a reciprocating, and preferably a rotatable gear rack whereby pivotal movement of the lever causes the gear rack to move linearly up and down through the housing. The lower end of the gear rack is joined to the corkscrew the free end of which extends through a cam collar and engages a cam follower therein. The cam collar is movable vertically within the housing from a lower position to a raised position, but is restricted against rotation relative to the housing. Two or more flexible fingers have notches therein which engage and disengage corresponding projections on the cam collar. The method of operation of the device is also described.

Cork extractor

A garlic press is described which utilizes a unique grater plate comprising a plurality of spaced apart drain holes and a plurality of conical projections. A corresponding press plate contains numerous recesses to receive the projections to facilitate the pressing of the garlic by penetrating the skin of the garlic clove. The garlic press may use a clean-out tool which includes a plurality of clean-out pins for engaging the drain holes in the grater plate. The tool can be stored by clipping it to one of the handles of the press when not in use. The pins of the clean out tool are a fixed length between three in four times of thickness of the grater plate. Alternatively, the clean out tool can be affixed to the press unit opposite the press plate with the top presser unit rotated about 270 degrees from a closed position to a fully open position, allowing the clean out pins to enter through the drain holes. In this alternative, the length of the pins are preferably graduated with the pins close to the pivot being shorter and pins furthest from the pivot being longer for more effective cleaning.

Garlic press

A specialized handle for hand held utensils adapted for use by individuals including those having physical impairments such as arthritis or poor motor skill functions is provided. The specialized handle which is typically formed from an elastomeric or plastic material has a substantial rectangular shape in cross-section along a first end and along a second end. The body of the handle has a narrow first end and an enlarged second end wherein the body tapers downwardly from the second end to the first end. The handle is also provided with a plurality of radially extending flanges located along the first end which provide a positive stop which precludes the undesired movement of the user's hand beyond the first end.

Utensil handle

A cutting board for cutting food articles comprising a relatively flat rectangular body with a handle, a cutting surface, a bottom surface, a juice channel, a sloping guide plane and leveling means. The cutting surface is curved to allow fluid to flow into the juice channel, the juice channel having grooves to allow fluid in the juice channel to be poured out. Raised teeth protruding from the cutting surface grip the article being cut. After the article is cut, it is guided off the cutting board by way of the shovel chute.

Cutting board

A press for garlic which does not require the clove to be separated and peeled, effecting the pressing operation without orienting the clove in the press, subsequently permitting the mechanism to automatically open when pressure is released, permitting removal of the remains. Cleaning the parts is simple because of the open construction and ease of washing the parts when in open position.

Golf grips for attachment to the shaft of a golf club which are adapted for use by individuals including those having physical disabilities such as arthritis or an infirm grip are provided. The golf grips are formed from an elastomeric material and include integral first and second sections. Both the first and second sections include a forward portion having a substantially rectangular shape in cross-section and a rearward portion having a substantially elliptical shape in cross-section. The first forward portion includes a radially outwardly extending flange disposed along a top surface of the grip and a radially outwardly extending hilt disposed along an underside surface of the grip. Another radially outwardly extending flange is provided along the second forward portion.

Golf grip

A combination dovetail, mortise and tenon jig, including a base unit which is used as a means of supporting different templates thereon, for use in forming the necessary elements involved in both dovetail and mortise and tenon joinery, the common elements being useful for both and providing accurate and consistently formed parts which are intended to interengage and perform the functions required of dovetail and mortise and tenon joints.

Device for mortise, tenon and dovetail joinery

A measuring device having a vertical column and a horizontal foot extending therefrom, the column having an indicator block adjustably slidable thereon, an indicator plate on the block for engaging a tool to operate on a workpiece, and indicia on the column related to the plate to establish the position of the tool with relation to different surfaces of the plate, and scribing portions on the plate to mark a workpiece when the column is moved with relation to such workpiece.

Measuring device

A device for marking centerlines of wood board edges to facilitate drilling dowel holes in the edges of different boards to provide matching, with parts to locate holes and hold such boards while drilling is performed, and where holes in the same relationship in such boards are desired, and a guide or guides for drilling such holes to provide for matching the same so that dowels may be inserted in corresponding holes to maintain the boards in connected relation with the planes of the board surfaces coinciding where desired.

Marking, gauging and dowel drilling device

A dual dowelling jig having clamping parts for a pair of boards or the like with articulating connections at the ends of the parts which connections include drill guides, the drill guides being arranged to locate holes in the boards precisely opposite one another and equi-distantly spaced to in turn provide for the insertion of dowels in holes drilled through the guides and subsequently locate the boards for gluing and thus fastening them in planar and edge to edge alignment.

Dual dowelling jig

An anti-kickback and hold down device having provision for mounting on and removal from a saw availed of for ripping material, primarily wood, and including a spring pressed wheel to engage the material being ripped, thus enabling ripping of wood of widely varying thickness, and preventing reverse movement of the wood caused by the saw itself, and effected by ratchet elements controlling the wheel operation, which are able to be positioned in varied longitudinal alignment, as well as to release or disable the ratchet at will, axial alignment of the wheel providing for holding the material being ripped, against a fence or like guide during the ripping operation.

Anti-kickback hold down device

A dowelling jig having provision for simultaneously clamping workpieces in which dowels are to be inserted, wherein the jig comprises a pair of movable clamping elements, movable toward and from a stationary element, and arranged for uniform movement in that manner by a screw member which causes the clamping action to be effected simultaneously with each of at least two workpieces, the elements being connected by links which in turn provide for drilling in guides at the ends thereof, the drill guides being movable on axes which are maintained in alignment by the linkage arrangement thereof, the links causing parallel, simultaneous movement of the drill guide means whereby the drilling for dowels is uniformly spaced in each workpiece.
