Calibration of an FNR lever, wherein signal outputs as the FNR lever is transitioned to and from the neutral position and through a range of positions, are determined. It is then determined whether the values are within expected norms. If not, a fault condition exists. The operator is also prompted to input acknowledgments when the FNR lever is at the fully rearward and forward positions. Signal values outputted by a neutral switch are sensed when the lever is initially moved to the neutral position, and at a predetermined time thereafter, to test a propulsion enable or latch relay which is to provide a predetermined output for a predetermined time after the lever moves into the neutral position, for transitioning of the system to neutral operation.

Apparatus and method for FNR calibration and testing neutral safety switch thresholds in an agricultural windrower

An apparatus and method for calibrating a PTO for driving a cutter of a header of an agricultural windrower, wherein a programmable control module in connection with at least signal operated device in operative control of a variable displacement pump operable for controlling operation of the PTO, is programmed as part of an automatic calibration routine for directing signals to the device having values which will increase over time from a first value toward a second value. At the same time, the control module determines when a first movement of the cutter occurs. If the first movement occurs before the second signal value is reached, information representative of an electrical signal corresponding to the first movement is stored. The routine is then repeated using a higher range of electrical signal values to calibrate where the cutter reaches max speed. In either instance, if the speed condition is not reached with the outputting of the signals within the range, the calibration fails.

Apparatus and method to calibrate the PTO with the disk or sickle of an agricultural windrower

The apparatus is an electronic speed control for farm machines. A microprocessor is fed data on the tractor engine speed, the tractor ground speed, and the manual speed lever setting, and electronically matches the desired ground speed to the engine speed to prevent stalling the engine. Ground speed is controlled by using the microprocessor to electrically vary a control valve that replaces the usual mechanical linkage between the speed control lever and the hydraulic pumps driving the hydraulic wheel motors.

The jaw clutch damper system includes a damper which can be a disk spring which absorbs shock forces generated by rapid re-engagement of clutch plates of the clutch and dissipates energy of the shock forces in cooperation with the other components of the clutch, including a clutch spring, such that resulting shock forces exerted against rotatable members connected to the clutch are damped and reduced substantially in magnitude within a time interval before occurrence of a subsequent shock force.
