A method is provided for dynamically monitoring material quality in a comminution system comprising a material crushing stage and a discharge stage. An imaging device captures images of comminuted material in the discharge stage, and characteristic features are extracted from the captured image for analysis with respect to at least one boundary condition. Output signals are accordingly generated corresponding to a determined comminution state of the comminuted material in the discharge stage. In one example, a crushing gap in the crushing stage is adjusted if the comminution state indicates material (or an amount of material) above a threshold size in the discharge stage. In another example, pre-screen settings in a pre-screen stage of the comminution system are adjusted if the comminution state indicates material (or an amount of material) below a threshold size in the discharge stage. Other comminution states and responses may, e.g., correspond to non-compliant material shapes, etc.

Quality monitoring and controls for a comminution system using imaging of material in a discharge stage

A work vehicle has display devices and cameras coupled to display feeds at display areas. The cameras include a first set on the first side, second side, and central location relative to the first FOV and a second set on a first side, second side, and central location relative to the second FOV. A control system is configured to: in a first mode, display a first set of feeds from the first side, second side, and central location of the display areas so that the feeds are arranged at the first side, second side, and central location relative to the first FOV; and in a second mode, display a second set of feeds from the first side, second side, and central location of the second set at display areas so that the feeds are arranged at the first side, second side, and central location relative to the second FOV.

Intuitive work vehicle vision system for enhanced operator visibility

A multi-camera vision system is utilized onboard a work vehicle having an operator cabin and an apparatus associated with performance of a work task. The system includes: one or more display devices defining a plurality of display areas and a plurality of cameras carried by the work vehicle and coupled to display feeds at the display areas. A first camera of the cameras is oriented to selectively provide a first selected feed of at least a portion of the apparatus during performance of the work task. A controller is configured to display the first selected feed of the selected feeds with an insert, overlay, or icon that indicates the origin and orientation of the first camera as the first selected feed depicts performance of the work task by the apparatus.

An overload protection control system and method are disclosed for an articulated dump truck having a load bin movable between loaded and unloaded positions by hydraulic cylinders of a hydraulic circuit. The overload protection control system includes a source of load data associated with the load bin. The overload protection system also includes at least one controller that receives and processes the load data to determine an overload condition associated with the load bin and determines a speed associated with the work vehicle. The speed is reduced in the overload condition.

A method for controlling vehicle speed comprises sensing a position of an operator input, engaging a retarder upon the position falling below a first threshold, modifying a retarding force exerted by the retarder based on the position while the retarder is engaged and the position is below a second threshold, and disengaging the retarder upon the position rising above the second threshold.

An apparatus for and method of controlling forces transmitted to wheels/tracks of a vehicle. The method includes receiving an electrical indication that a first brake is engaged, such as by a user pressing his foot to a service brake. The method further includes electrically transmitting an instruction to apply force restricting movement of the wheels, such as force exerted from a brake, in an amount above a first threshold, such as an amount necessary to unilaterally prevent movement. The method also includes electrically transmitting an instruction to reduce force being applied to the wheels from a transmission while the (brake) force above the first threshold is applied.

Application of braking force during engine force disengagement

The invention concerns an armrest mounted joystick for communication of operator initiated control signals to a vehicle controller. A plurality of switches require that the operator be safely located in the operation position in order for the control signals to reach the vehicle controller. Only when all of the switches change state, at substantially the same time, does the joystick either activate or de-activate, in response.
