An electromagnetic interference reduction assembly for a transmission is disclosed. A transmission casing includes a base and walls extending outwardly away from the base to a distal edge. The transmission casing defines a first cavity between the walls and includes a platform disposed between the walls. A power inverter module is disposed in the first cavity and supported by the platform when in the first cavity. The power inverter module generates electrical noise during operation which produces electromagnetic interference. A lid is attached to the distal edge of the walls to contain the power inverter module inside the first cavity. A grounding member engages the power inverter module and the lid when the lid is attached to the transmission casing to electrically connect the power inverter module to the lid to reduce the electrical noise exiting the first cavity which reduces the electromagnetic interference exiting the first cavity.

Electromagnetic interference reduction assembly for a transmission of a vehicle

In accordance with exemplary embodiments, a drive system is provided for an electric or hybrid electric vehicle that provides reduces electromagnetic emissions. The system includes, but is not limited to, an electric motor and a transmission having a collar for receiving a portion of a drive shaft. The collar has an inside diameter proportioned to an outside diameter of the drive shaft to cause capacitive coupling between the transmission and the drive shaft thereby reducing electromagnetic emissions along the drive shaft.

Vehicular electrical systems are provided. The vehicular electrical systems include a source device including an electrical component, a load device, and a cable assembly interconnecting the source device and the load device. The cable assembly includes a conductive core electrically interconnecting the electrical component and the load device, a conductive shield surrounding and being electrically insulated from the conductive core, the conductive shield having a first portion and a second portion, and an insulating body positioned between the first and second portions of the conductive shield such that the first and second portions of the conductive shield are electrically separated.

Embodiments of DC source assemblies of power inverter systems of the type suitable for deployment in a vehicle having an electrically grounded chassis are provided. An embodiment of a DC source assembly comprises a housing, a DC source disposed within the housing, a first terminal, and a second terminal. The DC source also comprises a first capacitor having a first electrode electrically coupled to the housing, and a second electrode electrically coupled to the first terminal. The DC source assembly further comprises a second capacitor having a first electrode electrically coupled to the housing, and a second electrode electrically coupled to the second terminal.

An automotive drive system and methods for making the same are provided. The system includes a three-phase motor and an inverter module. The three-phase motor includes a first set of windings each having a first magnetic polarity; and a second set of windings each having a second magnetic polarity that is opposite the first magnetic polarity. The first set of windings being electrically isolated from the second set of windings. The inverter module includes a first set of phase legs and a second set of phase legs. Each one of the first set of phase legs is coupled to a corresponding phase of the first set of windings, and each one of the second set of phase legs is coupled to a corresponding phase of the second set of windings.

Electrical system using phase-shifted carrier signals and related operating methods

Methods and apparatus are provided for a controlling an electric motor that is at least partially disposed within a motor housing. The rotational speed and position of the electric motor are sensed, and a temperature of the electric motor is sensed. The sensor signals are converted to optical signals and are propagated in a fiber optic cable. The electric motor is controlled based, at least in part, on the propagated optical signals.

A power module assembly of the type suitable for deployment in a vehicular power inverter, wherein the power inverter has a grounded chassis, is provided. The power module assembly comprises a conductive base layer electrically coupled to the chassis, an insulating layer disposed on the conductive base layer, a first conductive node disposed on the insulating layer, a second conductive node disposed on the insulating layer, wherein the first and second conductive nodes are electrically isolated from each other. The power module assembly also comprises a first capacitor having a first electrode electrically connected to the conductive base layer, and a second electrode electrically connected to the first conductive node, and further comprises a second capacitor having a first electrode electrically connected to the conductive base layer, and a second electrode electrically connected to the second conductive node.
