A computer-implemented method, according to one approach, includes performing a predetermined first data merge process in response to a determination that a version conflict exists between a plurality of versions of a data file resulting from editing performed on different cloud devices. The predetermined first data merge process includes determining a first merging policy of the data file from a plurality of potential merging policies, determining a plugin associated with the data file, and calling the plugin. The first merging policy is used as an input for the plugin, and the plugin includes predetermined conditions for determining first contents of the versions of the data file to exclude from a merge operation performed on the data file and second contents of the versions of the data file to include in the merge operation.

Calling a plugin and using a merging policy for mitigating version conflicts

A method is disclosed to validate the configuration of an information storage and retrieval system. The method provides a source information storage and retrieval system, a target information storage and retrieval system, and a master controller capable of communicating with the source information storage and retrieval system and with the target information storage and retrieval system. The method sequentially determines if each of the physical objects and logical objects disposed in the source information storage and retrieval system is also found in the target information storage and retrieval system.

Apparatus and method to validate the configuration of an information storage and retrieval system

Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for using device status information to takeover control of devices assigned to a node. A first processing unit communicates with a second processing unit. The first processing unit uses a first device accessible to both the first and second processing units and the second processing unit uses a second device accessible to both the first and second processing units. The first processing unit receives status on the second device from the first device indicating whether the second device is available or unavailable. The first processing unit detects a failure of the second processing unit and determines from the received status on the second device whether the first device is available in response to detecting the failure of the second processing unit. The first processing unit configures the second device for use by the first processing unit in response to determining that the received status on the second device indicates that the second device is available and in response to detecting the failure.

Using device status information to takeover control of devices assigned to a node

Disclosed are a system, a method, and article of manufacture to configure information storage and retrieval systems. A configuration loader receives configuration commands from a configuration loader user interface. Upon receipt of configuration commands, the configuration loader transfers storage controller configurations from information storage and retrieval system configuration sources to target information storage and retrieval systems. Threading technology is used to apply a thread manager for managing threads to accomplish the configuration transfers. Multiple physical and/or logical configurations may be transferred simultaneously using the threading technology.

An apparatus, system and method for testing a peripheral device such that the device can remain installed in a housing and connected to a communication bus such as a SCSI bus. The apparatus, system, and method include a communication port that is connectable to a peripheral device connected to a terminated communication bus. The communication port is connected to a first transceiver and a second transceiver. A microcontroller is also connected to the first transceiver and the second transceiver. The microcontroller is programmed to detect an operation mode for the peripheral device and selectively activate the first transceiver or the second transceiver based on the detected operation mode. The microcontroller is further programmed to perform a logical diagnostic test on the peripheral device using the activated transceiver. A user interface is included to communicate to a user a result of the diagnostic test.
