A seat system includes a base support structure having at least one flat seat support surface, a seat pan support structure movably coupled to the base support structure and having at least one contoured seat support surface, and a back rest support structure movably coupled to the base support structure. The back rest support structure includes a primary frame having at least one flat back support surface, and an articulating frame movably coupled to the primary frame and having at least one contoured back support surface. The seat system also includes a back rest cushion having an occupant-facing back rest surface, and an articulating arrangement of back rest cushion support members movably coupled together to define a bottom surface of the back rest cushion opposing the occupant-facing back rest surface.

An inflatable bladder includes, but is not limited to, a bladder body having a wall, a longitudinal dimension, and a lateral dimension. The wall defines an interior volume enclosing a fluid. The wall further defines an opening in fluid communication with the interior volume. The bladder body is fluid tight when the opening is closed. The wall is configured to facilitate an expansion of the longitudinal dimension during an ingress of the fluid into the interior volume and a contraction of the longitudinal dimension during an egress of the fluid from the interior volume. The wall is further configured to maintain a constant lateral dimension during the ingress of the fluid into the interior volume and a constant lateral dimension during the egress of the fluid from the interior volume.

Seat assemblies and methods for making seat assembly are provided. In one example, a seat assembly includes a seat base and a seat backrest. An armrest is disposed adjacent to the seat base and has an upper armrest section that extends towards a forward armrest section for supporting an arm of a seat occupant. A lever handle is disposed within a hand-length below the upper armrest section such that the lever handle is accessible to a hand of the seat occupant while at least a portion of the arm of the seat occupant is supported on the upper armrest section. A lever arm has a first end coupled to the lever handle and a second end pivotally coupled to a part of the armrest that is disposed below the upper armrest section such that the lever handle moves in an arcuate upward direction when actuated.

Seat assemblies and aircraft interiors are provided. An aircraft interior includes a floor, a seat base fixed to the floor, a seat frame, a seat body, an obstacle, and a seat maze. The seat frame is selectively fixed to the seat base and includes a frame rail circumscribing the seat base to define a bounding area in which the seat base may translate relative to the seat frame. The seat body is mounted on the seat frame and includes an arm portion. The obstacle is proximate the arm portion of the seat body. The seat maze is configured to guide the seat frame around a clearance area within the bounding area to maintain a predetermined clearance between the arm portion and the obstacle.

Seat assemblies are provided. In one example, a seat assembly includes a seat frame. The seat frame includes a seat structure portion and a backrest structure portion pivotally coupled to the seat structure portion for movement between a substantially upright seat position and a substantially reclined seat position. An upper back shell panel is coupled to the seat frame. A lower back skirt panel has an upper edge portion and is disposed adjacent to the upper back shell panel such that a gap is present between an upper edge portion of the lower back skirt panel and an outer surface of the upper back shell panel. The lower back skirt panel and the upper back shell panel allow relative movement between each other during movement between the substantially upright seat position and the substantially reclined seat position while maintaining at least a portion of the gap.
