The invention provides a combined fluid level sight gage and ultrasonic sensor featuring a fluid level sight gage having a housing for containing a fluid and having a sight glass for viewing the level of the fluid therein, and an ultrasonic sensor coupled to the housing, responsive to the level of fluid in the housing, for providing an ultrasonic sensor signal containing information about the level of fluid in the housing. In operation, the sight glass provides a visual verification that the ultrasonic sensor is working correctly in relation to the fluid visible in the sight glass. The ultrasonic sensor signal may be used to automatically annunciate alarms or warnings either locally at the equipment or by wired or wireless electronic means. In some embodiments according to the present invention, the housing has a centerline for indicating a normal fluid level therein. The ultrasonic sensor may be arranged in the housing on the centerline, or slightly below the centerline, or slightly above the centerline.

Combined sight oil level gage and ultrasonic sensor

A method and apparatus are provided for adjusting an impeller in a motor and impeller assembly of a pumping device. The method features steps of: tightening mounting bolts so as to move the motor and impeller assembly of the pumping device forward until the impeller touches a casing; inserting a feeler gauge in radial slots in a frame adapter and measuring a gap between a housing of the motor and the frame adapter; determining a desired impeller adjustment distance based on the gap and the desired impeller running clearance; selecting at least one shim having a thickness that corresponds to the desired impeller adjustment distance; loosening the mounting bolts and threading jacking bolts arranged in the rear of the pump frame adapter so that the jacking bolts push against the housing of the motor, and the shims can then be inserted into the radial slots; inserting the shims into the radial slots; backing out the jacking bolts; and securing the mounting bolts locking the motor and impeller assembly in position so that the impeller is at the desired impeller adjustment distance in relation to the casing. The frame adapter assembly features a frame adapter having four radial slots to enable access to the gap for measurement with a feeler gauge and for insertion of the shim to accurately set the impeller clearance.

Impeller adjustment device and method for doing the same for close coupled pumps

An impeller clearance adjustment system for providing for a desired clearance between an impeller and a housing by adjusting a spacing () between a thrust housing () and a frame () using a plurality of evenly-spaced shoulder screws () locked into a screwed-in position by respective lock nuts (). A shoulder portion () of each shoulder screw () keeps the thrust housing () from coming closer to the frame () than the adjusted spacing ().

Method and apparatus for adjusting impeller clearance in a pump

A bearing assembly for radially supporting a drive shaft of a pump such as a vertical sump and process pump. The bearing assembly has a bearing housing, a bearing having inner and outer surfaces, a bearing housing for holding the bearing, seals disposed in the housing for retaining a lubricant pumped into a space formed between the inner surface of the bearing and the drive shaft, and at least one water jacket disposed about a portion of the outer surface of the bearing. The water jacket circulates cooling liquid that contacts the outer surface of the bearing and carries away heat conducted through the bearing due to rotation of the drive shaft during operation of the pump.
