A multi-layer visor system for a surgical hood or garment is provided. The system includes a base film layer and one or more removable film layers that are coextruded at high temperature to form a sterile surface between each of the film layers should the surgeon elect to peel away a soiled or splattered removable film layer during the course of a surgical procedure so that an unobstructed view can be maintained. Thus, no separate sterilization step is required in order to sterilize the layers of the visor system. Each of the removable film layers can additionally include a tab having distinctive features in order to enable a wearer to easily distinguish between the tabs in order to make it easier for a wearer to know which tab to pull first to remove the outermost removable film layer. Further, because the tabs are located about the perimeter of the removable films, viewing is not obscured, yet the film layers are held securely in place until easily removed from the underlying removable film layer or base film layer.

Multi-layer visor system for surgical hood

A collar for a disposable surgical gown is provided. The collar includes a first portion having a first end and second end and a second portion having a first and second end. The first ends of the first portion and the second portion meet at a front of the collar to form a v-neck shape and the second ends of the first portion and the second portion meet at a rear of the collar to define a neck opening. The v-neck shape at the front of the collar forms an angle of greater than 90&#xb0; at the neck opening, while the second end of the first portion and the second end of the second portion are tapered at the rear of the collar. Such an arrangement prevents the collar from gapping when a wearer leans forward or moves during, for instance, a surgical procedure.

Collar for a disposable surgical gown

A disposable surgical gown is provided. The gown includes a front panel and sleeves formed from a first spunbond layer, a nonwoven (e.g., SMS) laminate, and a liquid impervious, moisture vapor breathable elastic film disposed therebetween. The gown also includes a first and second rear panels formed from a nonwoven laminate that is air breathable and allows for an air volumetric flow rate ranging from about 20 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) to about 80 scfm. The gown further includes a collar formed from an air breathable knit material positioned adjacent a proximal end of the gown. The collar defines a neck opening having a v-neck shape adjacent the front panel. The v-neck shape forms an angle of greater than 90&#xb0; at the neck opening. The combination of features results in a reduced-glare gown that is stretchable and impervious to liquids, yet can still dissipate heat and humidity.

Disposable surgical gown

A personal protection and ventilation system is provided. The system includes a gown having front and rear panels, a hood, and visor; a fan; an air tube; and a helmet. The fan is positioned between the wearer and a body-facing surface of the rear panel. The front panel and at least a portion of the hood are formed from a first material including a first spunbond layer, a spunbond-meltblown-spunbond laminate, and a liquid impervious elastic film disposed therebetween. The first material has an air volumetric flow rate of less than about 1 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm). The rear panel is formed from a second material including a nonwoven laminate having an air volumetric flow rate of about 20 scfm to about 80 scfm. Therefore, the fan is able to intake a sufficient amount of air from the environment through the rear panel to provide cooling/ventilation to the hood.
