The present invention relates to an apparatus for injecting infusion fluids into a patient at a controlled infusion rate. This apparatus is referred to as a 'controlled autoinfuser'. A preferred embodiment of the invention comprises a computer capable of using pressure volume and relationships to generate a control signal that will control the injection of infusion fluids into a patient. The present invention further comprises a method of controlling the injection of infusion fluids into a patient through the use of a microprocessor controlled autoinfuser as well as a method of injecting a preselected volume of infusion fluid into a patient within a preselected infusion time.

Autoinfuser for resuscitation and method of infusion fluid injection

An elongated handle with an internal supply of fresh dental floss and a flossing head including a fork provides oral hygiene. A fresh section of floss is advanced by a one-touch arrangement which concurrently relegates spent floss to a separate take-up reel. The fresh floss spanning the tines of the fork is kept taut at all times as a result of various special expedients including a differential spool and drum and a rack and pinion floss locking arrangement. When the supply of fresh floss on the bobbin is exhausted, the device is discarded.

Dental flossing device

Apparatus and related method for infusing liquids and drugs into, or aspirating marrow from, the trabecula of a patient's bone. The apparatus enables the user to reliably determine when an enlarged, threaded tip of an infusion/aspiration tube has reached the trabecular bone, and a spring bias ensures that the tip seals the hole formed in cortical bone during the subsequent infusion or aspiration.

Method and apparatus for intraosseous infusions

A rotary turntable has an upward step and a peripheral rim divided into pockets by upstanding radial walls. Objects deposited at random near the center of the turntable move by centrifugal force and some gravitional pull toward the step. They are individually separated by vertically reciprocating radial walls and are lifted up to the step and to the rim by lifters vertically reciprocating in time with the radial walls as the turntable revolves. A peripheral wall or band engages the outer ends of the partitions to retain objects in the pockets except for a small part of the periphery through which the pocketed objects are singly discharged.

Singulator

A singulator for separating a discrete object from a mass of such objects has a rotary, horizontal table on the central top portion of which the mass of objects is randomly arrayed. There are radial pockets at the top periphery of the table. The pockets are alternately opened and closed at their inner ends as the table rotates, preferably by triangular gates at the entry ends of the radial pocket walls. The gates are operated by levers actuated by a stationary cam as the table rotates with respect thereto. As they open and shut, the gates let one object at a time move from the central top portion of the table into a receiving pocket. A driving belt disengages from the wall ends to open the pockets to discharge at their outer ends for part of the table rotation. The belt reengages the pocket walls to close the pockets against discharge for the rest of the table rotation.
