A head assembly for a compression tool including a pair of opposite, rotatably mounted jaw members. Each jaw member having a compression end which is moveable between a first position in engagement with the compression end of the opposite jaw member and a second position wherein the compression ends are spaced apart from each other. The compression end of each jaw member having an interior nib surface, a semi-circular groove surface, an engagement surface and distal compression surface. The head assembly includes a center nib which is operably associated with the interior nib surface of each jaw member to provide three generally equidistant points of contact around the circumference of a connector that is placed therebetween for compression. The two jaws and the center nib form a first compartment, a second compartment and a third compartment in serial alignment, with each compartment adapted to selectively compress a connector and with said engagement surfaces in direct overlapping engagement with each other in response to movement of the jaws to the first position. Each compartment providing multiple areas for deformation flow within the plane of the jaws.

Compression tool head assembly

A straight line, side opening dead end cable clamp includes a pivotally mounted keeper that is spring loaded on the cable clamp body to urge the keeper into an open position. The body of the clamp has a very low profile permitting it to be formed in a mold that has a straight parting line. A cable receiving groove is formed in the body at an angle to bring the axis of the cable in line with the supporting clevis. The keeper has an elongated cable compression member that is maintained in alignment with the cable receiving groove. A single and a double U bolt design are disclosed. The compressive force applied to the cable by the cable compression member and the cable supported groove in the body is maximum at the supportive end of the clamp and minimum at the mouth of the clamp. A double loop spring member couples the keeper to the body and urges the keeper to an open position to permit access to the cable receiving groove.

Low profile side opening straight line dead end cable clamp

A compression tool (10) crimps both cylindrical (12) and 'H' type (75) connectors. The jaws (22) of the compression tool have a first part which is defined by a nib area in which there is a nib (44) on either jaw and a base nib (46) which is moved into the nib area by a yoke (36) which is in turn moved by a manually operated hydraulic section (18) of the tool. Operation of the hydraulic section causes the nibs to converge upon a connector placed therebetween to effect the crimp. Alternatively, a connector, e.g., an 'H' type connector, may be placed in a second part of the jaws. The second part includes opposing 'C' shaped sections which also effect a crimp in response to the hydraulic operation. Additionally, the tool is adaptable to receive dies (76 and 78) which allow customized crimping and cutting.

Compression tool for various sizes and shapes

A hydraulic apparatus for converting hydraulic pressure into mechanical movement for operating a tool or other device, operated by a pump block having a bore therein and a moveable plunger disposed within said bore. A cylinder is disposed over the pump block. The cylinder is captively held over the pump block and is moveable with respect thereto along the common axis. A fluid reservoir is defined between the cylinder and the pump block, and contains the hydraulic fluid. The plunger is operated by a pair of moveable arms secured to the apparatus and causes pressure to build in the fluid in an inlet chamber which communicates between the pump block and the cylinder. A pressure control valve is mounted adjacent the pump block and limits the hydraulic pressure which may be applied in the system. A release valve and apparatus is provided for releasing the hydraulic pressure and returning it to the reservoir.

Electrical clamp connector

A compression tool head assembly for compressing a metal connector about a conductor to be connected. The assembly is adaptable to make both parallel tap connections and sleeve connections. The assembly includes a head section having two, opposing arms moveably connected thereto, each of said arms having a nib thereon; a rigid column disposed between said opposing arms and having a reversible die mounted therein, said die having a nib at one end and a 'C' shaped section at its other end; a hydraulic pump section is connected to the head section and operates to move the head section towards the rigid column; the arms have cammed surfaces which interact with rollers fixed to the rigid column to cause the arms to move towards each other as the head is moved towards the rigid column; as the arms move towards each other the nibs will compress an article disposed therebetween; the arms having a connecting pin arrangement at their outer ends such that they may be pivoted and joined together; the nibs on the arms are formed such that when the arms are joined together an upper 'C' section is formed; by reversing the die in the rigid column the 'C' section in the die forms a lower 'C' section against which the upper 'C' section will move to compress a connector.
