A backlight assembly includes a light guide plate (LGP) having a stepped portion formed at a corner of the LGP, an optical sheet disposed over the LGP and a receiving container receiving the LGP and the optical sheet. The receiving container includes a bottom plate, first through fourth sidewalls and a first LGP fixing portion. The second sidewall is adjacent to the first sidewall. The third sidewall faces the first sidewall. The fourth sidewall faces the second sidewall. The first through fourth sidewalls are extended upwardly from edge portions of the bottom plate. The first LGP fixing portion is formed at the first sidewall such that the LGP fixing portion corresponds to the stepped portion of the LGP. Therefore, a display device is easily assembled. Furthermore, a defilement that may occur during an assembling process may be reduced to enhance productivity.

Backlight assembly and display device having the same

Provided is a backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display including: a light source; a light guide plate; and a bottom chassis comprising an accommodating portion, a light source cover configured to accommodate the light source, a first sidewall, and a second sidewall, the accommodating portion comprising a first accommodating portion and a second accommodating portion detachably coupled with each other, wherein the light source cover is formed on a first edge of the first accommodating portion, the first sidewall is formed on a second edge of the first accommodating portion, and the second sidewall is formed on an edge of the second accommodating portion.

Backlight assembly and liquid crystal display device including the same

The present invention provides a backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display including the backlight assembly, where the liquid crystal display device is slim, lightweight, and requires low manufacturing costs because the device integrates a bottom chassis and a lamp cover. The bottom chassis includes an accommodating portion for mounting a light guide plate, an optical sheet, and a reflection sheet; an inner sidewall for accommodating the light guide plate, the optical sheet, and the reflection sheet; and a lamp cover, where both ends of the accommodating portion are bent to enclose the lamp.

A liquid crystal display includes a light guide plate guiding light, light sources disposed adjacent to at least one side of the light guide plate, and a lower receptacle. The lower receptacle includes a bottom plate on which the light guide plate and the light sources are disposed, a lower receptacle side wall extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the bottom plate and from an edge of the bottom plate, and an upper plate extended from the lower receptacle side wall and substantially parallel to the bottom plate. The upper plate does not overlap the light guide plate in a plan view of the liquid crystal display.

Liquid crystal display and method thereof

A display device includes a panel assembly on which an image is formed, a cover member which comprises a front portion having a display window exposing at least a portion of a front side of the panel assembly and a side portion which is bent from the front portion, the cover member having one or more joining regions where a pair of end portions engage with and are joined to each other, the cover member comprising a first joining part and a second joining part which are formed at the pair of end portions, respectively, wherein at least one of the first joining part and the second joining part include a region stepped from a surface of the cover member, and at least a portion of the first joining part and the second joining part overlap each other, and an accommodating member which accommodates the panel assembly and is joined to the cover member.

Display device and case for the same

In a backlight assembly of a display device, a supporting frame receives a light-guide plate while exposing a light-exiting surface of the light-guide plate. A first receiving member covers an opposite surface of the light-guide plate facing the light-exiting surface, and a side first portion of the light-guide plate adjacent to a first side surface is inserted into a first sidewall portion of the first receiving member. A first light source is disposed between the first side surface and the first sidewall portion. A first reflective sheet is extended along an inner surface of the first receiving member and surrounds the first light source. The backlight assembly may further comprise a second receiving member, a second light source, and a second reflective sheet. A lamp reflector may be omitted, assemblability of the backlight assembly and the display device, and protection against heat, may be improved.

A backlight assembly includes a lamp assembly, a receiving container and a panel guiding frame. The lamp assembly includes a light source to generate light and a lamp cover to reflect the light. The receiving container includes a bottom and a sidewall. The sidewall includes a first sidewall portion facing the lamp cover and separated from the lamp cover by a first interval and a second sidewall portion separated from the lamp cover by a second interval narrower than the first interval. The panel guiding frame includes a first frame portion facing an end of the bottom and a second frame portion extended from the first frame portion along a side face of the second sidewall and having an opening corresponding to the first sidewall portion. Thus, the backlight assembly may have a reduced non-effective display area.

Backlight assembly and display apparatus having the same

Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device of which overall size and weight can be minimized. The liquid crystal display device has a light generating unit for generating a light. A light guiding plate guides the light to a display unit for displaying an image. A reflection plate is disposed under the light guiding plate for reflecting the light to the light guiding plate. A receiving container receives the reflection plate, the light guiding plate and the light generating unit. At least one boss is formed on a bottom of the receiving container for preventing the light generating unit from being moved by guiding a position of the light generating unit. Accordingly, the number of the parts installed in the liquid crystal display device can be reduced, and the manufacturing cost can be decreased because the manufacturing process is simplified in comparison with the liquid crystal display device including a separate lamp cover.

Liquid crystal display device

A backlight assembly, a display apparatus having the backlight assembly, and a method of assembling the backlight assembly are disclosed for embodiments. For example, a backlight assembly may include a receiving container which includes a first receiving member that receives a lamp and a portion of a light guide plate and a second receiving member that receives a remaining portion of the light guide plate. A reflection sheet is disposed between the light guide plate and the receiving container and elongated to cover the lamp. An adhesive is disposed between the reflection sheet and the receiving container and includes a heat-bondable material to adhere the reflection sheet to the receiving container when heat is applied thereto. Accordingly, the reflection sheet may be prevented from being wrinkled due to heat generated from the lamp, thereby enhancing assemblability of the backlight assembly.

Backlight assembly, display apparatus having the same and method of assembling the same

A backlight assembly includes a receiving container, a light guide plate, a light source unit, an optical member and a panel-guiding member. The receiving container includes a bottom plate and a sidewall extended from an edge portion of the bottom plate. The light source unit includes a light source generating light and disposed at side face of the light guide plate, and a light reflecting cover that covers the light source to reflect the light generated from the light source toward the side face. The optical member is disposed over the light guide plate. The panel-guiding member has a first plate combined with the sidewall of the receiving container, and a second plate extended from the first plate such that the second plate covers a portion of the optical member and is spaced apart from an upper face of the optical member. Therefore, warpage and cleavage of the optical member are prevented.

A backlight assembly includes a light source, a light guide plate, and a receiving container having a combination guide part. The coupling guide part is inwardly protruded with respect to the sidewalls of the receiving container. The coupling guide part corresponds with a guide recess on the light guide plate to guide the light guide plate to a proper position. The coupling guide part may also include a screw thread to couple the receiving container with an external case. Therefore, the receiving container may be easily coupled with the external case and the light guide plate may be guided to a proper position via the combination guide part to thereby simplify a manufacturing process of the backlight assembly and reduce its size.

A display device includes a display panel; a backlight unit disposed behind the display panel; a panel supporting part; and a first cover. The first cover includes a first cover part disposed along a non-display region of the display panel. The display device further includes a plurality of second cover parts extending downward from the first cover part. The panel supporting part includes a first supporting part disposed between the display panel and the backlight unit. The first supporting part supports the display panel. The panel supporting part also includes a plurality of second supporting parts extending upward from an edge portion of the first supporting part. The second supporting part is disposed alternately with the second cover parts. The second cover parts and the second supporting part face the lateral side of the display panel.
