A liquid crystal display includes a display substrate which includes a plurality of pixel areas and is curved in a first direction, an opposite substrate which faces the display substrate, is coupled to the display substrate, and is curved along the display substrate, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the display substrate and the opposite substrate, where a plurality of domains are defined in each of the plurality of pixel areas, directions in which liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer are aligned are different from each other in at least two domains among the plurality of domains, and the plurality of domains is arranged in a second direction crossing the first direction.

Liquid crystal display

A display apparatus includes an auxiliary display area and a main display area surrounding the auxiliary display area while the auxiliary display area includes a component area and an intermediate area surrounding the component area, a first auxiliary pixel circuit, a first additional pixel circuit, a first separation circuit, and a 1-1additional display element that are arranged in the intermediate area while the first separation circuit includes a 1-1output terminal, a 1-2output terminal, and a first input terminal that is electrically connected to the first additional pixel circuit, and the 1-1auxiliary display element is electrically connected to the first auxiliary pixel circuit, a 1-1and 1-2additional display elements arranged in the component area, a 1-1connection wire electrically connecting the 1-1output terminal to the 1-1additional display element, and a 1-2connection wire electrically connecting the 1-2output terminal to the 1-2additional display element.

Display apparatus

A curved display device including a display substrate, an opposite substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a pixel electrode, a common electrode, and a light blocking layer. The display substrate includes pixel areas included in a display area, and is curved along a first direction. The opposite substrate faces the display substrate and is coupled to the display substrate to be curved together with the display substrate. Domains are defined in each pixel area and arranged in a second direction crossing the first direction. Liquid crystal molecules in a first set of two domains, which are sequentially arranged and disposed adjacent to the light blocking layer, are aligned toward a first side of the display area, and liquid crystal molecules in a second set of two domains facing the first set of two domains are aligned toward the second side of the display area.

A display device includes: a display panel including a top surface, a bottom surface facing the top surface, and a plurality of side surfaces which connects the top surface to the bottom surface; a plurality of data driving units disposed on a first side surface of the side surfaces; a plurality of gate driving units disposed on a second side surface of the side surfaces, which is connected to the first side surface, and a first control signal line disposed on the first and second side surfaces, in which the first control signal line connects a first adjacent data driving unit of the data driving units, which is disposed adjacent to the second side surface, to the first gate driving units.

Display device

A display device includes a display panel, a first flexible film, and a second flexible film. The display panel includes a non-display area outside a display area. The first flexible film is attached to a first side surface of the display panel. The second flexible film is attached to a second side surface of the display panel. The display panel includes a signal line, a pad electrode, and a side surface connection electrode. The signal line is in the display area and connects the first and second flexible films. The pad electrode extends from the signal line. The side surface connection electrode is on the first and second side surfaces and directly contacts the pad electrode. The first flexible film and the second flexible film are coupled to the side surface connection electrode and are electrically connected to the signal line.

Curved display device having domains of liquid crystal molecules aligned in different directions

A display device includes a display panel which displays an image, the display panel including a display signal line and a pad electrode which extends from the display signal line, a flexible film from which a display signal is provided to the pad electrode of the display panel, the flexible film including a base film attached to a side surface of the display panel and including a front surface facing away from the side surface of the display panel, and a wiring electrode disposed on the front surface of the base film and, an adhesion member configured to attach the flexible film to the side surface of the display panel, and a connection electrode directly bonded to the pad electrode of the display panel and the wiring electrode of the flexible film to electrically connect the display signal line of the display panel to the wiring electrode.

Display device and method for manufacturing the same

A curved display device includes a display panel and members to curve the display panel in a first direction. The display panel includes a display substrate and a counter substrate. The display substrate comprises a pixel electrode disposed on a display area and in which first slits are formed, and the counter substrate comprises a common electrode facing the pixel electrode and in which second slits are formed. A first side area, a central area and a second side area are sequentially located in the first direction on the display area. When the display panel has a flat shape, a portion of the common electrode positioned between two adjacent second slits among the second slits overlaps the pixel electrode by an overlapping width. The length of the overlapping width in each of the first and second side areas is different from that of the overlapping width in the central area.

Curved display device

A curved display device includes a display panel having a display area on which an image is displayed; a receiving member receiving the display panel; and a cover member covering a border of the display panel to combine with the receiving member. The display panel has a bent shape along a first direction and a second direction crossing the first direction and each of the receiving member and the cover member is bent to maintain the bent shape of the display panel.
