An air conditioner for a vehicle and a method of controlling the air conditioner to variably control a position of a rear seat cold air control door depending on a position of a front seat temperature-adjusting door. The position of the rear seat cold air control door is controlled according to rear seat air-conditioning modes (rear seat temperature-adjusting modes). In an air-conditioning case, the rear seat cold air control door is mounted on a rear seat air passageway, thereby distributing an optimal volume of cold air to the front seat air passageway and the rear seat air passageway by preventing a large volume of cold air from being supplied to the rear seat air passageway in the rear seat temperature-adjusting mode, securing linearity of temperature discharged to the rear seat.

A heat pump system including a water-cooled type heat exchanger, which is a heat supply means, mounted on a first bypass line bypassing a second indoor heat exchanger to collect waste heat of vehicle electric devices to thereby enhance a heating efficiency of the heat pump system. The heat pump system for a vehicle includes: a branch line for connecting a refrigerant circulation line of the second indoor heat exchanger and the first bypass line with each other; a second bypass line, which bypasses an outdoor heat exchanger; and a control part that controls a flow of the indoor air to be introduced into an air-conditioning case, whereby the heat pump system can minimize influences of the outdoor air of low temperature even when the outdoor temperature is below zero, enhance the operation and the heating performance of the heat pump system by collecting waste heat of the vehicle electric devices and heat sources of the indoor air, and increase the mileage of the vehicle by minimizing operation of an electric heater.

Disclosed therein are a heat pump system for a vehicle and a method of controlling the heat pump system, which variably controls only a compressor if the number of revolutions of the compressor is less than the upper limit of the number of the maximum revolutions of the compressor and operates an electric heater only when the number of revolutions of the compressor reaches the upper limit of the number of the maximum revolutions of the compressor in order to satisfy a target discharge temperature in a heat pump mode, thereby preventing that convergence of an air discharge temperature of the interior of the vehicle is deteriorated or becomes unstable when the compressor and the electric heater are variably controlled at the same time in order to satisfy the target discharge temperature.

The present invention relates to a compressor for sucking, compressing and discharging a refrigerant gas from the external refrigerant circuit. The compressor includes: a suction muffler chamber having a suction port formed on the outer circumference of a cylinder block, which has a plurality of bores arranged in a line, and an oil storing part for storing oil, the suction port being communicated with the external refrigerant circuit; and a rear housing connected to the cylinder block to close the rear end of the cylinder block and having a suction chamber and a discharge chamber therein, the rear housing having a suction chamber communicating passage for communicating the suction chamber with the suction muffler chamber at the upstream part of the suction chamber. The compressor can effectively reduce a pressure pulsation of the suction gas and a noise due to the pressure pulsation without causing an increase of the overall length and the entire volume of the compressor, improve lubrication at the time of an initial start, and increase suction and compression efficiencies.
