In a rechargeable battery, a case is combined with an upper surface of a bare cell by being fixed to a lead plate electrically coupling a protection circuit board of a protection circuit module to the bare cell. Alternatively, the case is combined with the bare cell by being fixed to the protection circuit board so as not to be separated from the bare cell, thereby improving the reliability of the products.

An energy storage system including a battery cell, a tray for receiving the battery cell, and a rack for receiving the tray. The rack includes a connector unit. The connector unit is configured to connect to the tray inserted into the rack and to vibrate together with the tray when the tray vibrates due to, for example, an earth quake or external impact applied to the rack, thereby preventing an electric connection between the tray and the connector unit from being broken.

A rechargeable battery constructed with a bare cell, a protective circuit board electrically connected to the bare cell, a lead plate operationally connecting the bare cell and the protective circuit board, and a combining case covering an upper end of the bare cell, the protective circuit board and the lead plate. The lead plate is constructed with a first plate electrically connected to an outside surface of the protective circuit board, a second plate electrically connected to the bare cell, and an inside bending part connected between the first plate and the second plate. The first plate of the lead plate is bent around the inside bending part at 180 degrees such that the bare cell is coupled with the protective circuit board in parallel. A Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) device, a Protective Circuit Module (PCM) including the PTC device, and a secondary battery including the Protective Circuit Module (PCM) are provided. A support portion is formed at one end of a conductive plate of the PTC device, a conductive layer disposed on the upper portion of the PTC main body is fixed to the Protective Circuit Module (PCM), and the support portion is fixed by a coated adhesive that is melted at a high temperature and then hardens when the high temperature is removed, thereby preventing the PTC device from swaying or twisting.

A secondary battery includes grooves formed in a cap plate into which conducting support members are disposed allowing for the exact connection of a protection circuit board to a predetermined position of the battery. The secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly; a can to house the electrode assembly; a cap assembly; a protection circuit board electrically coupled to an electrode terminal of the cap assembly; and a conducting support member connected to a groove formed in the cap plate and soldered to the protection circuit board. The protection circuit board is electrically and mechanically connected to the groove formed in the cap plate, thereby allowing the protection circuit board to be exactly connected to a predetermined position of the cap plate.

A secondary battery having a hard case that is integrally formed to be able to reduce the number of parts and the fabrication process. The secondary battery includes at least one bare cell, a circuit part electrically coupled to the at least one bare cell and a case covering the circuit part coupled to the at least one bare cell, wherein the case includes a main case arranged on a first surface of the at least one bare cell and at least one sub case arranged on at least one different surface of the at least one bare cell that is adjacent to the first surface of the at least one bare cell, each of the at least one sub case being integral to the main case.

The present invention relates to a rechargeable battery, particularly a rechargeable battery having a bare cell, a protective circuit board, a lead plate, and a flat plate attached to a cap plate of the bare cell for connecting the lead plate to the cap plate. According to the invention, the lead plate is not directly combined with the cap plate, in which the cap plate is made of material differently from the lead plate, and the lead plate and cap plate are respectively welded to the metal layer made of the same material by means of the flat plate formed of metal, thereby allowing them to be easily combined with each other and the adhesive force to be enhanced.
