A plasma display apparatus and a method of driving the same are disclosed. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel in which a plurality of scan electrodes, sustain electrodes, and address electrodes are formed on substrates to form a discharge cell and electrode driving parts for driving the scan electrodes, the sustain electrodes, and the address electrodes. The plurality of scan electrodes are divided into a plurality of scan electrode groups and the driving parts are controlled such that a voltage different from a scan bias voltage is applied for a predetermined time in the address period of one or more scan electrode groups among the plurality of scan electrode groups.

Plasma display apparatus and method of driving the same

Provided are a method and apparatus for driving a PDP for widening a driving margin and improving contrast. The method for driving a PDP includes a first step of forming wall charges in cells with a set-up discharge using a set-up signal in a first sub-field and erasing the wall charges with a set-down discharge using a first set-down signal to initialize the cells, and a second step of erasing the wall charges with a set-down discharge generated using a second set-down signal different from the first set-down signal in a second sub-field, to initialize the cells. The method and apparatus for driving a PDP uniformly initialize sub-fields to widen the driving margin of PDP and remove a set-up discharge in at least one sub-field to improve the contrast of PDP.

Method and apparatus for driving plasma display panel

A driving method of a plasma display panel may be provided such that the plasma display panel may be driven stably under a high temperature environment. The method may include applying a scan pulse to the scan electrode during an address period, applying a first DC voltage to the sustain electrode during the set-down period, applying a second DC voltage to the sustain electrode during the first address period after applying the falling waveform to the scan electrode, and applying a third DC voltage to the sustain electrode during the second address period after applying the second DC voltage to the sustain electrode. A difference between the second DC voltage and a lowest voltage of the scan pulse applied during the first address period is lower than a difference between the third DC voltage and a lowest voltage of the scan pulse applied during the second address period.

A plasma display apparatus comprises a controller, data transmitting unit, data driver, and plasma display panel. The controller outputs m channels of image data and the data transmitting unit transmits the image data through the m channels. The data driver includes a data arranging unit which receives the m channels of image data and outputs n channels of addressing data. The number n may be greater than m. Also, the data arranging unit may include a memory for storing image data corresponding to one frame, so that a driver of the data arranging unit can receive image data from the controller in any input period of one frame period.

The present invention relates to a driving apparatus for supplying a driving signal to a plasma display panel, and a plasma display apparatus employing the same. A reset signal supplied during a reset period of a first subfield of a plurality of subfields includes a first rising period where a voltage rises up to a first voltage, and a first sustain period where the first voltage is sustained. A reset signal supplied during a reset period of a second subfield includes a second rising period where a voltage rises up to a second voltage lower than the first voltage, and a second sustain period where the second voltage is sustained. The second voltage is higher than a sustain voltage. In accordance with the present invention, if it is sought to reset discharge cells of a PDP in a reset period, a signal whose voltage gradually rises up to a voltage higher than the sustain voltage is applied to a scan electrode. Accordingly, wall charges of the scan electrode for addressing can be controlled effectively, the highest voltage of the reset signal can be lowered and, therefore, driving margin can be secured. Further, since the sustain period of the highest voltage is included, stabilized discharge can be generated irrespective of variation of an APL of a display screen.

Apparatus for supplying driving signals to plasma display panel and plasma display panel thereof

Disclosed therein is an apparatus for driving a plasma display panel, with a simple structure. Apparatus for driving plasma display panel

A plasma display apparatus and a method of driving the same are disclosed. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including a scan electrode, and a scan driver that supplies a setup pulse to the scan electrode. The setup pulse gradually rises to a first voltage level with a first slope, rises from the first voltage level to a second voltage level with a second slope smaller than the first slope, and rises from the second voltage level to a third voltage level with a third slope different from the second slope.

Disclosed is a method of driving a plasma display panel enabling to improve an overall contrast characteristic of the plasma display panel by reducing a voltage difference between scan and sustain electrodes Y and Z to decrease an emission amount of light generated by a discharge between the scan and sustain electrodes Y and Z. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the production cost by decreasing the number of components and improve a driving efficiency by raising a voltage of a setup waveform at a reset period.

A plasma display apparatus is disclosed. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including a plurality of data electrodes arranged in parallel to each other, and a data driver. The data driver applies a driving voltage to the plurality of data electrodes.
