Provided is a ferroelectric-based synaptic device and a three-dimensional synaptic device stack using the same. The synaptic device includes a source, a drain, a semiconductor body in which a channel region are formed, a gate electrode, and an insulating layer stack disposed between the semiconductor body and the gate electrode. The insulating layer stack includes: a charge trap layer disposed on the channel region of the semiconductor body and is made of a material capable of storing or trapping electric charges; a ferroelectric layer made of a ferroelectric material; and an insulating layer disposed between the charge trap layer and the ferroelectric layer. The synaptic device is characterized in that weight information is volatilely stored in the charge trap layer and non-volatilely stored in the ferroelectric layer.

Ferroelectric-based synaptic device and method of operating the synaptic device, and 3D synaptic device stack using the synaptic devices

Discussed are a color filter using a surface plasmon and a liquid crystal display (LCD) device, the color filter capable of enhancing a transmittance ratio of an LC panel by having a 3D pattern structure of a transmissive pattern for selectively transmitting light of a specific wavelength, and capable of simplifying entire processes. According to the color filter using a surface plasmon and the LCD device, not only three colors of RGB but also multi-colors can be implemented, and color reproduction can be enhanced by optimizing arrangement of the transmissive pattern according to the number of colors to be implemented.

Color filter using surface plasmon and liquid crystal display device

Discussed are an FFS mode LCD device capable of enhancing a transmittance ratio by including a color filter of a three-dimensional pattern structure having a transmissive pattern for selectively transmitting light of a specific wavelength by using a surface plasmon phenomenon, and a method for fabricating the same. The metal layer using a surface plasmon is utilized as a common electrode of the array substrate, and the pixel electrode having slits is formed on the metal film, thereby generating a fringe field. This may simplify the entire processes, and remove color filter processing lines, thereby reducing the installation costs.

Fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display device and method for fabricating the same

A method of forming a spacer for a liquid crystal display (LCD) device is disclosed. To form the spacer, an ink jet injection nozzle is aligned over a substrate on which unit pixels are arranged in a matrix. After aligning the nozzle, first dispensing spacers are dispensed from the injection nozzle with a certain gap so that at least one unit pixels is interposed between the spacers. Subsequently, the nozzle is moved and second dispensing spacers are dispensed by the nozzle at each of the unit pixels formed between the first spacers. This is repeated until the spacer is formed at all unit pixels. The spacer contains a ball spacer and a volatile liquid, which is vaporized during dispensing. The ink jet injection method prevents adjacent spacers from interfering with each other during formation.

Method for forming spacers on substrate

A liquid crystal display (LCD) device and its fabrication method are disclosed. Specifically, a fabrication method in which polyhedral spacers are implemented on a substrate through an ink jet method are used for an LCD device. The spacers have the polyhedral shape to increase their contact area with two substrates, and include a surface processed layer for strengthening a bonding force in its bonding with an alignment film formed on the two substrates. The spacers have a polyhedral shape for maintaining the cell gap between the substrates.

Liquid crystal display device and fabrication method thereof

An array substrate for use in an in-plane switching liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of gate lines having a first direction on a substrate; a plurality of data lines having a second direction substantially perpendicular to the plurality of gate lines, wherein pairs of the gate and data lines define a pixel region; a common line in the first direction between the plurality of gate lines; a plurality of common electrodes extending from the common line in the pixel region, wherein the common electrodes have an arc shape; thin film transistors disposed at four corners of the pixel region near crossings of the gate and data lines; a capacitor electrode above a portion of the common electrodes, wherein the capacitor electrode is connected to a corresponding thin film transistor; and a plurality of pixel electrodes connected to the capacitor electrode and disposed between the arc shape of the common electrodes, wherein the pixel electrodes are arc shaped, wherein the pixel region is divided into a plurality of sub pixels, each of which includes one thin film transistor, at least one capacitor electrode, and at least one pixel electrode.

Method for fabricating color filter of liquid crystal display device

A method of fabricating a color filter substrate includes forming a plurality of color filters on a substrate, wherein the color filters are spaced apart from each other by a first interval, and forming a common electrode on the substrate to cover the color filters. A photosensitive black material layer is formed on the common electrode to fill the first intervals between the color filters, and a mask is provided over the photosensitive black material layer. Light is then applied to the photosensitive black material layer from an upper side of the substrate through the mask and from a lower side of the substrate. The light-applied photosensitive black material layer is developed to form a plurality of black matrix portions within the first intervals between the color filters and to form a plurality of spacers above the color filters.

A method is provided for manufacturing a liquid crystal display having a gate bus line, a data bus line, and a switching element with a drain electrode on a substrate. The method includes the steps of forming a protection layer over the substrate to cover the gate bus line, the data bus line, and the switching element, depositing a first layer on the protection layer, the first layer having a thermal expansion coefficient smaller than that of the protection layer, and depositing a second layer on the first layer, the second layer having a thermal expansion coefficient substantially consistent with that of the first layer. The method further includes the steps of removing portions of the second layer on the first layer to form a desired pattern of the second layer, removing portions of the first layer using the patterned second layer as a mask to form a desired pattern of the first layer, and removing the second layer remaining on the patterned first layer.
