A method and a device for pressing a liquid extract from a material to be pressed include a screw press which conveys the material to be pressed along a pressing route and applies pressure to it. In addition, at least one extracting agent is added to the material to be pressed and is removed, together with the extract, from the pressed material. The extracting agent is supplied to the material to be pressed in an amount that is no more than twice the weight of the extract contained in the material to be pressed. At least a portion of the extracting agent dissolves in the extract.

The means for moving the rollers closer together ( ) are designed so as to press the gluing roller ( ) against the corrugated sheet ( ) and the corrugated sheet ( ) against the fluted roller ( ). Because the gluing roller ( ) is pressed against the corrugated sheet ( ), positional measurements of the gluing gap, which are prone to error, are unnecessary. Moreover, a highly uniform gluing pattern of the wave peaks of the corrugated sheet ( ) is maintained by providing means for adjusting and controlling the compressive force between the gluing roller ( ) and the fluted roller ( ).

Device for locally controllable preheating of a material web

A smooth press implements the application of a covering paper against a corrugated paper passing around a ribbed cylinder or roll of a single corrugator. The smooth press comprises a series of identical support arrangements arranged side-by-side along the ribbed cylinder or roll. Each arrangement has a pad whose support surface is urged against the ribbed cylinder and is curved according to a radius approximately equal to that of the ribbed cylinder in order to cover a plurality of ribs. Each pad is movable between a position disengaged from the corrugated paper and a second position biasing the cover sheet onto the corrugated paper on said ribbed cylinder and is movable individually in a controlled fashion.

Smooth press for a machine for manufacturing corrugated cardboard

A smooth press comprises a smooth cylinder acting conjointly with a lower ribbed cylinder in order to apply a covering paper against a corrugating paper passing around the ribbed cylinder and includes a tractor arrangement downstream from the lower ribbed cylinder situated with respect to the smooth cylinder so as to form a contact angle of the covering paper against the ribbed cylinder. The tractor arrangement applies a tension force to the cardboard which creates a reactive radial pressure urging the cover paper against the corrugated paper at the contact surface of the ribbed cylinder. A linear support load of the smooth cylinder against the lower ribbed cylinder is regulated at a low value in a range of 0 to 7N/mm by a mounting arrangement for the lower cylinder, which includes a pair of levers subjacent to the ribbed cylinder, the two ends on the same side of the pair of levers being rotationally mounted on an axle fixed to the frame and the two other ends being held by an actuator at a constant pressure across a first detector, with the upper edge of each lever resting against an adjustable stop having a motorized cam across a second force detector.

A device to limit the glue width on a glue applying roll of a gluing station for applying glue on a sheet of material characterized by the glue applying roll dipping into a container of glue, a doctor blade engaging a surface of the glue applying roll to remove glue, said doctor blade being mounted by an arrangement which moves the blade laterally along the axis of the roll in response to the detected position of the web so that as the web shifts laterally, the edges of the glue film are simultaneously shifted. Preferably, the apparatus includes a second blade which is larger than each doctor blade which has an edge positioned spaced from the surface of the glue applying roll to reduce the size of the film in the area of the doctor blade.

A vertical rear door for a single-face station which has a pressurized volume and which station is used to produce corrugated cardboard. The door consists of a panel with an outer dimension slightly smaller than the inner dimensions of the door frame in which it is received. The whole periphery of the panel of the door is provided with peripheral seals resting on the inner periphery of the framework. An interlocking arrangement includes at least a hook mounted to extend in a vertical plane from the inner surface of the panel of the door and liftable so that it can move in a vertical plane by means of a lifting arrangement. The hook engages an interlocking axle which is mounted permanently on the door frame and the front part of the inner notch of the hook has a forward curvature to surround a substantial portion of the axle when the hook is engaged thereon. The hook also has a front cam surface which will cause lifting of the hook to allow it to ride up over the axle until the inner notch is received on the axle during closing of the door.

A device for adjusting the distance between a web leading roll, such as a corrugating roll, and a glue applying roll in a glue unit comprises a shaft arranged to extend across the frame of the machine parallel to the glue applying roll with the gluing unit for the glue applying roll engaging the shaft, an arrangement for lifting the gluing unit to rotate around the shaft so that the glue applying roll will be positioned closer to the web leading roll and the device includes at least one cam mounted in the frame to engage a stop on the subframe of the glue unit to limit the amount of movement in elevation of the gluing unit.

A single-face station for a machine that produces corrugated cardboard comprises a frame which includes a stand with two lateral wall members, a lower cassette which carries a lower pressure roll being positioned on support and resting surfaces formed in the lateral walls, an upper cassette having a pair of corrugating rolls resting on the lower cassette and on guide surfaces in each of the side walls. The resting surface and support surface extend at right angles to each other and obliquely to a horizontal plane and the arrangement includes a holding arrangement to exert a downward force on anchoring points provided in a lower rear portion of the upper cassette in order to hold the upper cassette and lower cassette on their respective resting, supporting and guiding surfaces. In addition, there is an extracting arrangement for allowing the upper cassette to be withdrawn laterally from the frame.
