A camshaft adjuster () with a stator () that has an outer part () for concentrically holding a rotor () with vanes () arranged around the rotor () and a segment () projecting from the outer part () for engaging between two vanes () of the rotor (), in order to form, together with the two vanes (), pressure chambers () of the camshaft adjuster (). A cover () is located on an axial side of the ring-shaped outer part, and the cover includes a cavity for holding hydraulic fluid from the pressure chambers (). The segment () may also have a cavity () for holding a hydraulic fluid from the pressure chambers ().

Arrangement of a volume accumulator in a camshaft adjuster

A camshaft unit (), having a first camshaft () which is phase-adjustable with respect to a crankshaft, having a second camshaft () which is arranged concentrically with respect to the first camshaft (), and having a camshaft adjuster () by which both camshafts () are phase-adjusted with respect to the crankshaft.

A camshaft adjuster () for a camshaft () of an internal combustion engine (). The camshaft adjuster () includes a stator (), a rotor () housed concentrically in the stator () and mounted rotatably about a rotational axis () relative to the stator (), and a volume accumulator () for receiving a hydraulic fluid from a pressure chamber () formed between the rotor () and the stator (). The volume accumulator () has an outlet () in a direction of the rotational axis ().

Configuration of a tank connection in a camshaft adjuster with volume accumulator

A camshaft adjuster with a drive element, a driven element, and a pressure chamber formed between the drive element and the driven element for generating a relative rotation between the driven element and the drive element, and a volume accumulator that is arranged in the camshaft adjuster and supplies hydraulic medium via a channel from the volume accumulator to the pressure chamber if there is an under-pressure in the pressure chamber. The camshaft adjuster has a non-return valve with a closing part for closing an opening of the channel, the non-return valve allows a flow of hydraulic medium through the channel from the volume accumulator to the pressure chamber, and there is an elastically expandable component that projects into the channel and can be guided by the channel and is connected to the closing part and is provided for applying tension for pulling the closing part into the channel.

Non-return valve of a camshaft adjuster

A stator () for a camshaft adjuster (). The stator () has a ring-shaped outer part () for the concentric holding of a rotor () with vanes () that project in the axial direction and are arranged on the periphery around the rotor () and a segment () that projects inward in the radial direction from the ring-shaped outer part () for engaging between two vanes () of the rotor (), in order to form, together with the two vanes (), pressure chambers () of the camshaft adjuster (). Here, the segment () has a cavity () for holding a hydraulic fluid from the pressure chambers ().

A device for adjusting the relative rotation angle position of a rotating shaft (), in particular of a camshaft, relative to a drive element (), including a substantially hollow-cylindrical displacement member (), which is arranged coaxially to the shaft () and to the drive element () and is coupled to the shaft () and to the drive element () such that an axial displacement of the displacement member () effects an adjustment of the relative rotation position of the shaft () relative to the drive element (), and an actuating unit () for axially displacing the displacement member (), the actuating unit comprising two brake actuators () and two counter-rotating threaded drives () for coupling the brake actuators () to the displacement member () such that, upon selective actuation of a brake actuator (), an axial displacement of the displacement member () takes place in one direction or the other. According to the invention, at least one threaded drive () of the actuating unit () is at least partially accommodated in the shaft () that is to be adjusted, wherein the accommodated part of the threaded drive () comprises a spindle section () that is arranged coaxially to the shaft () and a nut () which can be axially moved with respect to the spindle section () and which is connected such to a section of the displacement member () that is likewise accommodated in the shaft () that an axial movement of the nut () effects an axial displacement of the displacement member () in a first direction.

Device for adjusting the rotation angle position of a camshaft

Groups of camshafts () are connected to camshaft adjusters () via adapters. According to prior art, adaptations to the camshaft adjuster () are necessary for different mounting conditions and/or different geometries of camshafts (). Here, an adapter () is provided between camshaft () and camshaft adjuster (), which adapter can then be adapted to different geometries of the camshaft () and/or mounting positions. By this, the multiplicity of parts can be reduced.

Impurities of a lubricant in traditional camshaft adjusters can cause a problem, leading to impairment in the function and service life of the camshaft adjuster. In order to address this, flow channel areas are provided in the lubricant circuit, which include a dead chamber () where impurities can be deposited as a result of centrifugal force. Alternatively or additionally, a labyrinth is used to deposit impurities.

Camshaft adjuster

A camshaft adjuster () having a variable ratio gear unit (). Usually, a drive movement of an electrical actuating assembly () is transmitted into a variable ratio gear unit () of a camshaft adjuster () on the side which faces away from the camshaft (). According to the invention, the abovementioned drive movement is transmitted in from the side of the variable ratio gear unit () which faces the camshaft (). As a result, a further assembly, for example a vacuum pump, can be driven by the variable ratio gear unit () on the side of the variable ratio gear unit () which has become free and faces away from the camshaft (). An actuating shaft () of the actuating assembly () is preferably mounted via a bearing () which is supported on a circumferential face of the camshaft (). This results in a reduced axial overall size of the camshaft adjuster and extended possibilities for the arrangement of an actuating assembly and the connection of additional assemblies.
