A picture element for a display device includes a first and a second supply connection, a light-emitting semiconductor device arranged between the first and the second supply terminal, and a comparison unit having a first and a second input and an output. The comparison unit is configured to adjust a voltage at the output in dependence on a comparison of a voltage applied to the first input and a voltage applied to the second input. The picture element also includes a supply switch-configured to control a current flow between the first and the second supply terminal via the light-emitting semiconductor device depending on the voltage applied at the output of the comparison unit. The picture element further includes a selection input, a data input, a memory element and a control switch.

The invention relates to various aspects of a μ-LED or a μ-LED array for augmented reality or lighting applications, in particular in the automotive field. The μ-LED is characterized by particularly small dimensions in the range of a few μm.

μ-LED, μ-LED device, display and method for the same

A diode array with at least two image elements. The diode array includes a distribution transistor as well as a feed line for receiving a reference current and a first supply terminal coupled to the distribution transistor for supplying the distribution transistor. A diode and an input transistor are provided for each image element, each of which is coupled to the diode for supplying the diode. The distribution transistor forms a distribution current mirror with the respective input transistor of at least two image elements.

In an embodiment a semiconductor component includes a laterally extending contact area laterally interrupted in such a way that material of the contact area laterally delimits at least one recess, the contact area configured to be at a potential, wherein at least one first recess is formed laterally as a circular ring around a lateral center point of the contact area, and wherein at least one second recess extends laterally in a straight line through the lateral center point of the contact area so that the contact area is divided by a corresponding recess into two halves which are not connected by material of the contact area.

A circuit for generating a PWM signal includes a shift register having a plurality of clock-controlled register units. Each clock-controlled register unit has an input and an output. The circuit also includes a write unit configured to set the outputs of the register units each to a designated logical value. The circuit further includes a clock generator configured to drive the register units with a common clock signal. The register units are connected in series. The shift register is configured to output the PWM signal at an output contact. The PWM signal is a chronological sequence of the logical values set in the register units, the PWM signal assumes each of the logical values with the duration of one clock of the clock signal, the clock signal is cyclic, during one cycle the duration of successive clocks changes, and the clock signal is identical per cycle.

An arrangement for operating a diode array includes a plurality of LEDs. Each LED is assigned a respective sensor element which is configured to detect a characteristic value representative of a luminous flux of the respective LED. The arrangement also includes a respective supply input for providing a current for light-emitting operation of the respective LED. The arrangement further includes in each case a control unit which is coupled on the input side to the respective supply input and the respective sensor element and on the output side to the respective LED and is configured to control the current for light-emitting operation of the respective LED as a function of the corresponding characteristic value. The arrangement additionally includes a respective supply input for providing a current for light-emitting operation of the respective LED.

Device and method for operating a diode array

An optoelectronic light emitting device includes an optoelectronic semiconductor component configured to generate light, a current source configured to generate a current, and a PWM transistor driven by a pulse-width modulated signal. The PWM transistor enters a first state or a second state based on said pulse-width modulated signal. The PWN transistor is configured to supply the optoelectronic semiconductor component with the current generated by the current source in the first state and to decouple it from the current generated by the current source in the second state. The current source is manufactured by a first technology and the PWM transistor is manufactured by a second technology.

A display includes a plurality of pixels. The pixels include at least one emitter unit. The emitter units each include a primary emitter and a secondary emitter for generating light of the same color. The secondary emitter is associated with the primary emitter of the corresponding emitter unit. The primary emitters and the secondary emitters are based on at least one semiconductor material. The emitter units each include a correction circuit. The correction circuits are each configured to be able to switch the generation of light from the primary emitter to the associated secondary emitter in case of a defect of the associated primary emitter.

Display and manufacturing method for a display

The method of manufacturing a plurality of semiconductor chips () comprises a step A) of providing a semiconductor substrate () having a plurality of integrated electronic circuits () on a top side () thereof. In a step B), a sacrificial layer () is applied on one side of the semiconductor substrate. In a step C), holes () are introduced in the sacrificial layer so that at least one hole is formed above each electronic circuit. In a step D), the semiconductor substrate is adhered to a carrier () with the sacrificial layer at the front, an adhesive layer () being used between the sacrificial layer and the carrier, and the adhesive layer filling the holes so that holding elements () from the adhesive layer are formed in the holes. In a step E) the semiconductor substrate is thinned. In a step F) separation trenches () are introduced between the electronic circuits, which extend from a side of the electronic circuits facing away from the carrier to the sacrificial layer and penetrate the thinned semiconductor substrate. In a step G) the sacrificial layer is removed in the region between the electronic circuits and the carrier.

Method for producing a plurality of semiconductor chips and semiconductor chip

A display device and a method for operating a display device are disclosed. In an embodiment a display device includes a plurality of image points configured for emitting visible light of adjustable color by at least one semiconductor layer sequence, wherein the image points are independently controllable of one another, wherein each of the image points includes a plurality of types of pixels and each type of pixel is configured to emit light of a particular color, wherein the pixels are independently controllable of one another, wherein each of the pixels is divided into a plurality of subpixels, the subpixels being independently controllable of one another within the associated pixel, and wherein all subpixels of the associated pixel are configured for emitting light of the same color from the display device without further color change.
