In a method for determining and displaying a remaining range of a motor vehicle that can be driven electrically, an instantaneous remaining range of the motor vehicle that can be attained by purely electric driving of the motor vehicle is determined continuously and a display of the determined remaining range on a display unit is controlled, wherein a range preservation mode is activated with the control unit; and the display unit is activated with the control unit. A remaining range determined before the activation of the range preservation mode is displayed with the display unit while the range preservation mode is activated. A device for determining and displaying a remaining range of a motor vehicle that can be driven electrically and a motor vehicle having a device for determining and displaying a remaining range are also disclosed.

A method performs traffic-flow-conditioned adaptation of stopping processes to a synthetically modulated speed profile along a route traveled along by a vehicle. A route is selected on the basis of map data stored in a data record. The route is divided into route segments and a synthetically modulated speed profile is generated for each route segment. While the driver is travelling along at least part of the selected route, the method senses how often and for how long the vehicle stops in the route segments. The synthetically modulated speed profile is adapted for at least one route segment according to the detected stopping processes.

A method and a device determine a prediction quality for a predicted energy consumption of a motor vehicle. By determining a prediction quality, a tolerance band is calculated in addition to the predicted driving profile. The prediction quality provides a statement about the entire route as to whether a driver remains in a tolerance band that is based on stochastic evaluation and is naturally occurring. As long as the driver remains in the predicted tolerance band of the driving profile during the real drive, no re-calculation or change of the operating strategy is necessary. Fuel consumption is minimized using the predictive operating strategy on the specified distance.

The invention relates to a method for operating a motor vehicle with a hybrid drive (), in which at least one operating medium of the motor vehicle is heated to a predefined desired temperature by a dielectric heating device (). In this way, immediately following a cold start of the motor vehicle, components through which the operating medium flows can be brought particularly rapidly to their optimum operating temperature so that a particularly energy-saving operation of the motor vehicle is possible.

In order to operate a hybrid vehicle, a mode is provided in which adjustment to the remaining electrical range is performed, specifically said remaining range is kept substantially constant. A method for determining the driving resistance of a vehicle by taking into account a value for the vehicle mass is described. Before beginning to drive, the vehicle mass and driving resistance coefficients are estimated with an estimation method by taking into account sensor signals, and an initial value for the driving resistance is calculated from the vehicle mass and the driving resistance coefficients. A corrected value for the driving resistance and the vehicle mass is calculated while driving, based on measured driving-related values, which are measured in chronological succession.

Certain processes are defined in a data record and in each case a multiplicity of such processes are preferably defined for different driver types. Each process is distinguished by an entry speed and an exit speed. A preliminary speed profile can be divided into route sections, to each of which a process from the defined processes corresponds. The assigned speed profiles can be completely complex, in particular also comprise nonlinear sections between the entry speed and the exit speed, and in this way constant travel can be simulated, for example through an oscillatory change in the speed. It is also equally possible for stationary phases with a specific frequency and duration to be included in a process. The situational context which is formed by other processes is taken into account in the definition of the speed profile.
