An apparatus for storing energy comprises a two-quadrant chopper connectable to a converter DC link, at least one energy store, connected to the two-quadrant chopper for storing energy, so that the two-quadrant chopper can be used to transport energy from the converter DC link to the at least one energy store or vice versa. The apparatus further comprises a control device for controlling a current flowing in accordance with the transport of the energy, wherein the control device is configured to control the current flowing in accordance with the transport on the basis of a thermal load on the at least one energy store.

A drive device comprises an electric motor, a first receiving area and a second receiving area. The first receiving area may include converter power electronics. The second receiving area may include further electronics. The first and second receiving areas may be formed on the B-side of the electric motor. A current sensor includes an induction coil, a Hall sensor, and a calibration coil loaded by a generator continuously with a calibration current of defined frequency &#x3c9;. A first evaluation circuit is loaded with the induction signal. A second evaluation circuit, whose input receives the Hall signal, includes a low-pass filter. A third evaluation circuit evaluates a part of the Hall signal that is attributed to the calibration current and uses it for defining a parameter of the second evaluation circuit. A fourth evaluation circuit generates an output signal that represents the current magnitude and is the sum of the output signal of the first evaluation circuit and the output signal of the second evaluation circuit minus the part of the output signal of the second evaluation circuit which is attributed to the calibration current.

A built-in autotuning system of a motor control system provides an autotuning of the motor control system based on BQF. The system measures the effective inertia and determines whether there exists a high-frequency resonance. If there is a high-frequency resonance, the system sets the BQF as a low pass filter, otherwise the system sets the BQF as a high pass filter. The system then adjusts the gains of the controller to set the phase and gain margins within a specified values.
