The invention relates to an external rotor device with a rotor housing designed to receive at least one rotor and with at least one sensor magnet provided on the rotor housing. The sensor magnet is arranged/can be arranged in sensory correlation with and in a predefinable relative position relative to the rotor. According to the invention, the external rotor device is characterised in that the external rotor device has at least one ring which is integrally formed on the rotor housing, the ring having at least one pocket which is arranged to receive the sensor magnet, the sensor magnet being arranged/arrangeable in the pocket in such a way and the ring being arranged/arrangeable in a predefinable relative position relative to the rotor on/in the rotor housing in such a way that the relative position of the sensor magnet relative to the rotor in at least one spatial direction is predefined by the materially integral formation, in particular at least with regard to the radial direction and also with regard to the circumferential direction and/or the axial direction.

An electronically commutated one-phase motor (') has a stator having at least one winding strand (&#x2032;), and it has a permanent-magnet rotor () that induces, as it rotates, a voltage (u) in the winding strand. The motor further has an electronic calculation device or microcontroller () which is configured to execute, during operation, the following steps repetitively: sampling the induced voltage (u) in a currentless winding strand, for example, during a half-wave of the induced voltage, in order to obtain a plurality of analog voltage values; digitizing the analog voltage values in order to obtain a plurality of digitized voltage values; and processing the plurality of digitized voltage values to ascertain the instantaneous rotation direction of the motor rotor. The control circuit then can use these data to assure reliable motor start-up, regardless of any external driving forces which occur.

One-phase brushless motor

A two-stranded electronically commutated DC motor has a permanent-magnet rotor (), power supply terminals () for connecting the motor to a current source () and a stator () having a winding arrangement which includes first and second winding strands (). The latter are controlled by respective first and second semiconductor switches (). The motor also has a third controllable semiconductor switch (), arranged in a supply lead from one of the terminals () to the winding strands (), which third switch is alternately switched on and off by applying to it a PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) signal. During switch-off intervals, magnetic flux energy stored in the motor causes a decaying loop current (i) to run through the windings, continuing to drive the rotor. This facilitates conformal mapping of temperature information in the PWM signal onto a target motor rotation speed.

Method for operation of a two-stranded electronically commutated motor, and motor for carrying out said method

An electronically commutated motor (ECM) has terminals () for connection to a DC power source (). It has a permanent-magnet rotor (), also a first and a second series circuit () in each of which a stator winding strand () is connected in series with a controllable semiconductor switch (), which two series circuits are connected in parallel to form a parallel circuit (). In addition to the strand-connected switches () typically found in an ECM, in a supply lead to said parallel circuit (), a third controllable semiconductor switch () controls energy supply from the DC power source (). In order to increase motor efficiency and minimize the size of any motor capacitor required, special switching steps are performed so that electromagnetic energy, remaining in the winding(s) after shutoff of power application, is converted into motor torque, instead of being dissipated as heat.
