An breathing or anesthesia apparatus and a process for operating a breathing or anesthesia apparatus are provided in which only a very low energy consumption occurs outside of the operating times. The breathing or anesthesia apparatus () is put into an energy-saving mode and a function pretest is performed before putting the apparatus into the energy-saving mode. A function self-test is carried out when the breathing or anesthesia apparatus is put into a standby mode.

Respirator

A testing system, a testing process, a medical device, e.g., an anesthesia device (G), and a computer program product are provided for testing installed program versions for acceptability. The anesthesia device (G) comprises a plurality of electronic components (K), which are operated and/or controlled with a program, which may have various versions. A release function () is activated for releasing the anesthesia device (G) or for putting same into operation only if a consistent set of acceptable program versions can be detected, and the anesthesia device (G) is otherwise blocked.

Version control for medical anesthesia devices

An apparatus for medical fluid delivery is to be improved for the sake of simple monitoring of the quantity of medical fluid delivered. For attaining this object, a safety device () with a patient model () is provided, which from past values and current values of the dosage rate of the medical fluid extrapolates a future medical fluid concentration () and switches off the dosage unit () for the medical fluid if the extrapolated medical fluid concentration () exceeds a predetermined limit value ().
