Winding device and method for a reel cutter that includes a feed path that is adapted to support a plurality of reel cores, and a plurality of trestles that are adapted for movement substantially parallel to the feed path. Each of the plurality of trestles are coupled to a bearing spindle. A plurality of gripper devices are provided that are adapted for movement substantially parallel to the feed path and that include at least one grip head having a portion adapted for grasping one of the plurality of reel cores. The at least one grip head is moveable between the feed path to the bearing spindle. The method includes gripping one of the reel cores in the feed path with the gripping device of the at least one grip head, moving the one reel core to the bearing spindles, and coupling the bearing spindles to the one reel core.

Winding device and method for a reel cutter

In a winding machine for the production of at least one coil (10) of a supplied material web, such as in particular a paper web and/or a card web, the material web (12) is guided through a longitudinal cutting device (16) and the partial webs of the longitudinally cut material web (12) are each wound up onto a core (18), in particular a core (18) formed by a sleeve. A coil (10) arising on the core (18) is supported by at least one support roll (20), in particular a drivable support roll, and the hardness of the winding can be influenced by a web tension interruption device (22). The web tension interruption device (22) is provided in the running direction of the web directly in front of a position (S) where the supplied material web (12) or its partial webs run onto an associated support roll (20), and is also arranged between the longitudinal cutting device (16) and the run-on position (S). It includes at least one roll (24) spatially separate from the associated support roll (20). The at least one roll spatially separate from the relevant support roll (20) can be driven. The web tension interruption device (22) is subdivided transversely to the web running direction (L), and at least one segment is associated with each partial web of a longitudinally cut material web (12). The tensions of the various partial webs can be controlled independently from one another via the segments or segment groups associated therewith.

Winding machine

The winding machine of the invention includes two parallel wound web roll support rollers which are spaced apart and on which the roll being wound is supported. The gap between the support rollers and below the supported wound roll is to be pressurized. A pressure chamber is defined by the support rollers, the wound roll above, and from below by a cross member which bridges over the distance between the support rollers and closes the bottom of the gap. End walls close the ends of the chamber. The cross member is movable between a sealing position where it is in contact with, or at least is sealed with, the two support rollers and bridges the gap between them to an open position where it opens the gap between the support rollers. The cross member is movable either down out of the gap, laterally out of the gap, or a combination of both, by reciprocating swinging, or oblique movement, and the like. The cross member has at least one passage which connects the pressure chamber with a source of compressed air through an intermediate conduit. An elongate transverse distributing pipe arranged at a distance from the cross member has a pressure connection through the conduit leading to the cross member.

Winding machine for winding a traveling web of paper

A carrier roll winding machine for winding up a web, such as a paper web. Two carrier rolls form a winding bed for a reel and the reel is fed with a web wrapped around the bottom of and then passing between the two rolls and to the reel. A blow box beneath the space between the carrier rolls having a compressed air connection. The blow box has a respective wall at each of the carrier rolls and a sealing element at each of the walls sealing to the respective carrier roll. The region, of at least one wall or of both walls, supporting the sealing element are movable from the sealing position to a non-sealing position either by translatory movement or pivoting movement with reference to the remaining stationary wall parts of the blow box. A web severing device is movable to sever the web when a wall portion and sealing element are moved away from the carrier roll permitting the severing device to pass to the web.

An air box for use beneath a pair of carrier rolls or a roll winder for a web. The air box disposed beneath the carrier rolls has first and second side walls generally sealed respectively at each of the carrier rolls. The paper web passes beneath one of the carrier rolls and up between the rolls. The web may tear and the paper web then drops into the air box. A connecting wall in the air box between the side walls thereof and above the base receives the paper falling thereon rather than the paper falling into the air box. The connecting wall may be inclined to direct the falling paper toward a side wall where an opening is provided enabling the moving of the paper. The connecting wall may be perforated and the air flow into the air box is beneath the perforated wall so that the air flow through the wall cooperates in moving the falling paper along the connecting wall. As a result, the waste paper can be removed quickly and easily.

A winder for winding a traveling paper web into a paper roll. Two support drums include respective longitudinal axes which extend substantially parallel to each other. Two nip rolls include respective longitudinal axes which extend substantially parallel to the longitudinal axes of the support drums. A support body carries the two nip rolls. The two nip rolls are pivoted when the paper roll has a particular diameter, such that the two nip rolls define an essentially sealed space with the support body and a portion of a shell surface of the paper roll. A vacuum port is disposed in communication with the sealed space.
