A digital printing machine includes a first sheet-conveying belt made of a first material, a second sheet-conveying belt made of a second material, and a print head for printing on a front side and a back side of the print sheet. The print head is directed towards the first sheet-conveying belt. A reversing device reverses the print sheet between receiving a print on the front side and receiving a print on the back side. A drier dries a print that has been printed onto the print sheet by the print head. The drier is directed towards the second sheet-conveying belt. For instance, the first sheet-conveying belt may be a metal belt and the second sheet-conveying belt may be a plastic belt.

A cylinder for conveying printed sheets along a UV or electron beam drier has inert-gas openings to which an inert gas is supplied at least temporarily during operation. A method for conveying printed sheets is also provided.

In an apparatus for clamping and releasing a gearwheel rim with respect to a main gearwheel that bears the gearwheel rim, a clamping apparatus includes an axially guided, displaceable clamping plate clamping the gearwheel rim between the plate and the main gearwheel. Antifatigue bolts are used for such a purpose. The bolts are expanded by an actuator for releasing the clamped gearwheel rim to an extent that cancels the clamping action.

A machine for processing printing material sheets, in particular a sheet-fed printing press, has a sheet transport drum for transporting the printing material sheets and at least one sheet supporting element. The sheet supporting element, which is formed with a sheet supporting surface, is compatible with the sheet transport drum, for supporting the printing material sheets in a first operating mode. When the machine is operated in the first operating mode the sheet supporting element is held attached to the sheet transport drum, and when the machine is operated in a second operating mode the sheet supporting element is stored in the machine detached from the sheet transport drum. A corresponding printing material processing machine is suitable for carrying out the novel method.

An adjusting device for adjusting a sheet transport cylinder in a sheet-fed rotary printing machine, depending upon various printing-material thicknesses, includes a mounting support for mounting the sheet transport cylinder so that a rotational axis of the sheet transport cylinder is adjustable from a first axial position, which corresponds to a given printing-material thickness, to a second axial position, which corresponds to another printing-material thickness and is axially parallel to the first axial position.

A cleaning device for cleaning an outer cylindrical surface of an impression cylinder of a rotary printing machine includes a cleaning cloth pressed against the outer cylindrical surface by a beam. The beam is pivotally mounted to engage the cleaning cloth with the outer cylindrical surface upon pressurization of a pneumatic cylinder. A spring pivotally returns the beam to disengage the cleaning cloth with the outer cylindrical surface upon depressurization of the pneumatic cylinder. To assure radial clearance between the cleaning device and the gripper fingers of the impression cylinder, the pneumatic cylinder is depressurized at a first angular position of the impression cylinder and the pneumatic cylinder is subsequently pressurized at a second angular position of the impression cylinder. The first and second angular positions of the impression cylinder correspond respectively to the cleaning device nearing the vicinity of the gripper fingers and the cleaning device leaving the vicinity of the gripper fingers. The cleaning device includes a cam roller that engages a cam plate attached to the impression cylinder to control the engagement of the cleaning device with the outer cylindrical surface upon the pressurization of the pneumatic cylinder.

A cleaning device provided on a rotary printing machine for cleaning the outer cylindrical surfaces of cylinders includes a pressing-on bar for pressing a cleaning cloth on a respective outer cylindrical surface, adjusting elements for engaging the pressing-on bar, and an elastic profile rail to guide and press a cleaning cloth onto an outer cylindrical surface over the entire cylinder width. The elastic profile rail receives a plurality of forces from spring elements. The elastic profile rail and the spring elements allow a uniform cleaning of the outer cylindrical surface despite the presence of uneven or rough portions of the outer cylindrical surface that might be encountered by the cleaning device during cleaning.

A device for cleaning cylinder surfaces in printing presses uses a cleaning cloth. The cleaning cloth extends over the length of the cylinder surface. The cleaning cloth is guided by an application element and is placed in contact with the cylinder surface to be cleaned by the application element. A drive mechanism moves the cleaning cloth through a washing device to remove the adhering dirt particles from the cleaning cloth.
