The invention relates to a handpiece for radiating light onto a skin surface during a medical or cosmetic skin treatment. An optical coupling element () is provided in said handpiece (). The light entrance surface () of said coupling element faces towards a light source, while its light exit surface () is in contact with the skin surface () during the skin treatment. The invention provides that the coupling element () of a handpiece () of this type consists of a bundle of light guides which end in the light entrance surface () and in the light exit surface () and which are in such close lateral contact with each other, at least in their end sections, that there are no optically ineffective intermediate spaces.

Device for radiating light onto a skin surface during a medical or cosmetic skin treatment

A dermatological handpiece by which a laser beam is directed to the surface of a selected skin area for purposes of a cosmetic treatment and the skin area is subjected to the action of the laser beam. A method is also disclosed for the cosmetic treatment of skin surfaces during the operation of this handpiece. A handpiece of the type described above is outfitted with a device for moderating the temperature of the skin surfaces on which the laser beam acted immediately beforehand and/or is to be subjected to the action of the laser beam immediately following the temperature moderation. The handpiece is further provided with elements for influencing the laser beam cross section with respect to shape, dimensioning and intensity distribution.

A medical instrument for phacoemulsification with which the biological tissue of a lens of the eye is comminuted by the introduction of energy, the comminuted product is sucked out through an incision in the cornea, while intraocular pressure is maintained by supplying an irrigating liquid. In an instrument of the type mentioned above, two cannulas are provided for sucking out the ablated lens material and for supplying the irrigating liquid and are connected, via feed lines, with the suction device and with the supply device. A switchable directional valve is provided in the feed lines between the cannulas and the suction device and supply device, by means of which, in a first valve position, a first cannula is connected with the suction device and the second cannula is connected with the supply device and, in a second valve position, the second cannula is connected with the suction device and the first cannula is connected with the supply device.

Medical instrument for phacoemulsification

A medical handpiece is disclosed which is connected with a laser radiation source via a beam guidance device and by which a laser beam is directed to a treatment area. The handpiece is freely movable to the laser beam source. At least one optical element with a surface which is structured in the micrometer range and which is accordingly micro-optically active is provided inside the handpiece following an exit face of the beam guidance device.

A medical handpiece for transmitting energy from a laser beam into biological tissue. An optical fiber for conveying the laser beam to the handpiece and a light guide for radiating the laser energy into the tissue are arranged in a base body. Means are provided for aligning the optical axis of the light guide in relation to the optical axis of the fiber and means for aligning the optical axis of the light guide in relation to the base body are also provided. The light guide can be displaced in an axial direction in relation to the base body and the alignment can be set according to the direction of displacement or maintained. The light guide is easy to replace and the device is easy to clean in accordance with all hygiene requirements.

A method for photoablation in the field of dermatological medicine and to an arrangement for carrying out this method is disclosed in which the laser radiation and the outlet channel for the laser radiation are directed to a portion of skin to be treated during the treatment and the outlet opening is positioned near the treatment area. In this method, the area to be treated is subjected to a suction vacuum during treatment over its entire extent. In particular, the outlet opening communicates with a device for generating a vacuum.
