A wind turbine comprising, a tower, a nacelle mounted on the tower, and a rotor for harvesting wind energy by rotation of the rotor about a rotor axis extending in a vertical center plane. The nacelle comprises a main unit and two auxiliary units each housing a first and a second operative component. To obtain a combination of reuse of components and a good weight distribution, the first operative components in the first and second auxiliary units have the same distance to the center plane and the second operative components in the first and second auxiliary units have different distances to the center plane.

Rooftop containerized HVAC module for wind turbine generator

A wind turbine nacelle configured for mounting on a wind turbine tower and for supporting a rotor-supporting assembly, the nacelle comprising a main unit, and at least one auxiliary unit. The auxiliary unit accommodates at least one operative component, e.g. a converter, a transformer, an electrolysis cell, or a battery. An operative component having a similar function is accommodated in another auxiliary unit which thereby facilitate shared operation, and easy and fast maintenance or replacement of the operative component.

Nacelle for a wind turbine

A methodof predicting tonal noise produced by a wind turbine is disclosed. The method comprises acquiringa first set of vibration data, the first set of vibration data being from a plurality of vibration sensors positioned at different locations about a wind turbine drivetrain when the wind turbine drivetrain is undergoing testing in a test rig; acquiringa second set of vibration data, the second set of vibration data being from a plurality of vibration sensors positioned at different locations about the same or a similar wind turbine drivetrain when located in a wind turbine; acquiringnoise data including tonal noise produced by the wind turbine; identifyinga vibration sensor of interest using vibration data of the second set of vibration data and the noise data; determining, for the identified sensor, a first relationship between vibration data of the first set of vibration data and the second set of vibration data; and determining, for the identified vibration sensors, a second relationship between the first set of vibration data and tonal noise produced by a wind turbine based on the first relationship.

Predicting wind turbine noise

A power transmission system for increasing the rotational speed from a rotor of a wind turbine comprises a main shaft configured to be driven by the rotor, a support structure, and a gearbox. The support structure includes at least one bearing supporting the main shaft for rotation about the main axis, with no other degrees of freedom between the main shaft and support structure. The gearbox includes a gearbox housing rigidly coupled to the support structure and a gearbox input member coupled to the main shaft. The gearbox housing supports the gearbox input member for rotation about the main axis without any other degrees of freedom, and the gearbox input member is coupled to the main shaft with translational degrees of freedom in all directions and rotational degrees of freedom about axes perpendicular to the main axis.

Wind turbine power transmission system

An adaptive wind turbine generator (WTG) control system comprising a measurement system MS with sensors A1, A2, MC arranged to perform measurements of mechanical vibrations of one or more mechanical components of the WTG, at a plurality of operating conditions for the WTG. A storage unit SU stores, in a measurement database MD, measured data and corresponding operating condition OC data for the WTG. An operating condition manager OCM determines how to operate the WTG, including rotor speed PSC, according to a control algorithm in response to the data stored in the measurement database MD. Hereby, individual vibration measurements on critical components such as electric power generator and blades of the WTG can be taken into account in determining which rotor speed windows to avoid. This allow a more power efficient WTG, since a large safety margin around calculated or predetermined tabulated rotor speed windows can be avoided. Further, with a continuous update of the measurements, the control system can take into account variations in the vibration behavior of the components over time.

Wind turbine generator with adaptive locked speed operation

A composite gear part for a gear arrangement includes a shaft part adapted to be rotationally mounted in the gear arrangement, an inner part made from a first material, and an outer part made from a second material. The outer part is fixed circumferentially to the inner part, and the outer part has a plurality of gear teeth formed therein. The outer part must be made from a material which is sufficiently durable and hard to fulfill requirements for gear teeth, but the material of the inner part need not fulfill such requirements. The inner part includes recesses or apertures arranged so that the inner part supports the outer part in an asymmetric manner.

Composite gear part for a gear arrangement and a method of forming a composite gear part

A power transmission system for a wind turbine comprises a gearbox and generator. The gearbox includes a gearbox housing and gearbox output member. The generator includes: a generator housing having a drive-end side and non-drive-end side, the drive-end side being coupled to the gearbox housing; a stator supported by the generator housing; a rotor having a rotor shaft coupled to the gearbox output member and a rotor body coupled to the rotor shaft; a non-drive-end shield coupled to the non-drive-end side; a spindle extending from the non-drive-end shield in the axial direction; and at least one generator bearing positioned between the rotor shaft and spindle. The generator bearing(s) support the gearbox output member and rotor shaft. A method of assembling or servicing such a power transmission system is also provided.

A gear system () comprising a main bearing (), a main gear () and two or more pinion shafts (). The main bearing () directly supports a torque inputting means () and defines a rotational axis (). The pinion shafts () are each arranged to mesh with the main gear () at an exterior surface () of the main gear () in such a manner that torque transmitted from the main gear () is split into a number of parallel torque paths corresponding to the number of pinion shafts (). At least the main gear (), and at least part of its meshes to the pinion shafts () are arranged within a perimeter defined by the main bearing (). The gear system () is compact due to the arrangement of the main gear () and meshes to the pinion shafts (). At the same time it is easy and cost effective to manufacture because the pinion shafts () mesh to the main gear () via the external surface ().

Gear system for a wind turbine

The invention relates to a lubrication system for a gearbox with stationary and rotating gearbox parts particularly in a wind turbine. The system includes lubrication distribution means in the stationary and rotating gearbox parts such as lubrication bores and openings. One or more rotary transmissions establish a transmission channel between lubrication distribution means in said stationary and rotating gearbox parts where said one or more rotary transmission include at least two connecting means. The invention also relates to a wind turbine with a drive train including a gearbox, and a lubrication system.
