An imaging device and method for producing an image of a vehicle surroundings of a vehicle with at least one camera includes recording a first partial image in a first position or alignment of the camera and recording at least a second partial image in at least a second position or alignment of the camera, each partial image corresponding to the entire coverage area of the camera. The first partial image and the second partial image are assembled to form the image of the vehicle surroundings such that the image shows a larger area than each partial image. The imaging device includes the camera and an image synthesis device with which the first partial image and the second partial image can be assembled to form the image.

Method for generating an image of the surroundings of a vehicle and imaging device

A method for assisting a vehicle driver in exiting from a lateral parking space in a longitudinal direction with respect to a roadway is disclosed. The method involves measuring at least the length of the parking space to obtain measurement data, determining a parking-space-exiting trajectory at least on the basis of the measurement data, starting a process of exiting the parking space, and carrying out the process of exiting the parking space with simultaneous collision prevention by monitoring a distance from a plurality of objects which bound the parking space. During the exiting process, the steering of the vehicle is controlled automatically, and the automatic control of the steering concludes when the vehicle has reached an intermediate position from which the vehicle can exit the parking space using a single maneuver. The method concludes as soon as the parking-space-exiting trajectory allows for collision-free exiting from the parking space.

Method and device for assisting a driver of a vehicle in exiting from a parking space

The invention describes a method for the operation of a driving assistance system when parking a vehicle () in a lateral parking space () along a carriageway, in which below a particular activation speed and during the search for a parking space, possible parking spaces () are measured and an information item indicating that a suitable parking space () has been found is output to the driver for a parking space () of sufficient length for the vehicle (), wherein the rear area () of the vehicle () is monitored when the activation speed is undershot during the search for a parking space, and the driver of the vehicle () is warned of a potential shunt accident as a result of a sudden braking maneuver when there is a following vehicle () in the rear area (). In addition, it describes a driving assistance apparatus for carrying out the method and a computer program product which prompts a microprocessor having associated memory means to carry out the method.
