Implementations of the present disclosure provide a solution for spreadsheet table transformation. In this solution, one or more header areas and a data area of a spreadsheet table are detected. A hierarchical structure of each of the header areas is determined by analysis of cell merging and/or indents in the header area, and/or a function relationship between data items in corresponding cells of the data area. The spreadsheet table can be transformed to a relational table based on recognition of the hierarchical structure of the header area. In this way, by facilitating understanding of header structures based on the header hierarchy, it is possible to achieve automated transformation from spreadsheet tables to relational tables.

Spreadsheet table transformation

A solution for spreadsheet table transformation is provided. In this solution, one or more header areas and a data area of a spreadsheet table are detected. The spreadsheet table can be transformed to a relational table based on recognition of the hierarchical structure of the header area. A system for dynamically displaying specific sections of a file depending on a user identity is provided. The system utilizes access control data to enable an author to generate and share a file with a number of consumers and have each recipient view a customized set of sections of the file depending on access permissions associated with each recipient. The file can be in any format, e.g., a word processing document, presentation document, a media file, or any other file having a number of sections. A section of a file can be any definitive unit of data, such as a page, slide, tab, worksheet, video segment, audio segment, etc. Permissions can be based on a user's permission level, work history, skill level, role in an organization, title, etc. The system can also prevent access to certain sections of a file depending on the permissions associated with a consumer.

Dynamic display of file sections based on user identities

A system for composing storyline content in multiple productivity applications is provided. The productivity applications are each configured with an authoring pane and a storyline pane. Each productivity application has an authoring pane configured to display and edit the contents of a particular file type. Portions of the content displayed in the authoring pane are selected for the purposes of composing a presentation and the selected content is displayed in the storyline pane. The storyline pane of each application is synchronized to enable users to work within each application and view a current version of the presentation that is being composed while also viewing authored content specific to each application. The selected content displayed in a storyline pane can be used to generate formatted storyline data. The storyline data can be in a Web-based format, a presentation file, a multi-frame image file, a video file, or any other suitable format.

Coordination of storyline content composed in multiple productivity applications

Improved computer efficiency for document navigation is provided. A transparent overlay is automatically applied to an interactive content element to prevent inadvertent interaction with the element during scrolling operations. In some examples, upon determining a user's intent is to navigate a parent document comprising an embedded interactive element, the overlay is applied, and user-interaction with the interactive element is temporarily disabled. Upon determining the user's intent is to interact with the interactive element, the overlay is removed, and user-interaction with the interactive element is enabled. When the overlay is removed, a contextual hint, such as via a user interface control, can be provided to indicate how to continue navigating the parent document. In other examples, the transparent overlay is customized according to each interactive content element, wherein user controls associated with the interactive element are exposed, and wherein the overlay is perpetually applied to the interactive element.

Intuitive document navigation with interactive content elements

A dynamic presentation of contextually relevant content during an authoring experience. As a user writes about a topic, the authored content is analyzed to identify one or more keywords that may be used to identify, retrieve and present suggested content to the user. The suggested content may be received from one or more resources, such as a search engine, a data store associated with the user, social media resources or other local or remote files. Techniques described herein might also select the keywords from authored content based on a cursor position. As a result, the suggested content may change as the cursor moves to a new position in the authored content. In addition, techniques described herein provide a user interface control that allows for the selection and de-selection of one or more keywords, which allows a user to tailor the suggested content by toggling one or more controls.

Dynamic presentation of suggested content

One or more signals are used to identify regions of interest of an image. The signals are applied to the image to generate one or more models that are based on the regions of interest. The models may present different perspectives of the image by emphasizing various features and focal points. The models may be ranked and displayed according to a scoring paradigm that is based on one or more signals. Multi-tiered feedback mechanisms allow for the collection of user intent and/or other forms of explicit input. Feedback associated to the models may be obtained and used to generate additional models that are based on one or more signals and the feedback. The feedback may also be stored and utilized for machine learning purposes.
