Electrical card connector

A shield adapted to be fit into an opening defined in a casing of an electronic device to protect the electronic device from electromagnetic interference, includes a shielding panel dimensioned to be received in the opening of the casing. The shielding panel has outward flanges contacting support flanges extending from a periphery of the opening of the casing for retaining the shield in the opening. The outward flanges of the shielding panel form at least one retaining tongue extending therefrom and receivable in a gap defined in the support flanges of the casing for securely retaining the shield in the opening.

Shield for electronic device

An I/O shield for an electronic assembly comprises a shielding plate having a reinforcing plate and a resilient plate attached together with a pair of side walls respectively extending from opposite edges thereof and a number of receiving slots disposed therein. The shielding plate is guided into an opening disposed in a chassis of the electronic assembly by the side walls. A number of spaced spring contacts is formed on the side walls by stamping and bending. Each spring contact comprises a base integrally formed with the side wall, a bend and a free end. The tip of the bend is located nearer to the base than to the free end. Thus, the free end will not warp or engage with notches disposed in a peripheral flange of the opening thereby facilitating removal of the I/O shield.

I/O shield for electronic assemblies

An I/O shield for electronic assemblies includes a shielding plate with a variety of receiving slots disposed therein and a pair of side walls extending from opposite edges thereof. The shielding plate is guided into a corresponding opening defined in a chassis of the electronic assembly by the side walls. The slots are engaged with corresponding connectors mounted to an inner main board of the electronic assembly and retain the connectors in position. A plurality of spaced spring contacts is formed on the side walls, each including two base portions integral with a surface of the side wall and an intermediate projecting portion having a planar section parallel to the side wall. Since the two base portions of each spring contact are integral with the side wall, placement and removal of the shield are thereby facilitated. Furthermore, the area of engagement between each spring contact and a peripheral flange of the opening of the chassis is increased due to the planar portion of the spring contact thereby providing enhanced shielding capabilities.

An electrical card connector includes a main body (,) having a dielectric housing (,), a number of terminals (,) received in the housing, and a mounting casing (,) assembled to the housing, and a card ejection mechanism (,) mounted to the casing of the main body. The card ejection mechanism includes an operating rod (,), a connecting rod (,) having an end pivotally attached to an end of the operating rod, and a card ejecting lever (,) pivotally attached to an opposite end of the connecting rod. The connecting rod has a first fulcrum (,), and the card ejecting lever has a second fulcrum (,) which is movable a predetermined distance. When the operating rod acts on the connecting rod to pivot about the first fulcrum, the arm of the connecting rod pivots causing the card ejecting lever to move a distance in a rearward direction, thus the card is ejected a distance. When the second fulcrum of the card ejecting lever abuts against the casing, the card ejecting lever begins to pivot about the second fulcrum, thus the connecting rod and the card ejecting lever work together and eject the card a relatively long distance.

Electrical card connector having a card ejection mechanism

An electrical connector assembly comprises a first connector, a pair of second connectors, a circuit board and a bracket. The first connector includes a plurality of terminals having mounting tails. A pair of indicating devices mounted to the first connector each has conductive wires extending therefrom. Circuit traces are longitudinally arranged on the circuit board. First ends of the circuit traces are connected to the mounting tails while second ends of the circuit traces are connected to an intermediate device connected to a mother board. The circuit traces are arranged so that cross talk therebetween can be effectively reduced.

Electrical connector assembly

A high-density electrical connector comprises a housing, two sets of SMT contacts insert molded in opposite sides of the housing, and a shield covering the housing. The housing comprises a first housing member and a second housing member surroundingly incorporating the first housing member. A recess is defined between the first and second housing members. A method of manufacturing the high-density connector comprises the steps of: 1) insert molding a pair of SMT contact carriers to opposite sides of the first housing member; 2) insert molding the first housing member having the two SMT contact carriers to the second housing member; 3) severing carrier plates from the two SMT contact carriers; 4) assembling the shield to the housing. The first insert molding forms a base and a crossbeam retaining mounting and mating portions of the SMT contacts with a gap defined therebetween. The base defines a plurality of openings. The second insert molding fills the openings and the gap to incorporate the base and the crossbeam to form the housing.

High density electrical connector and method of manufacturing the same

A card cartridge connector having a card ejecting mechanism comprises a housing forming a mating face and a supporting face orthogonal to the mating face. A plurality of passageways each receiving a terminal therein is defined through the housing. A pair of guiding pillars extend from traverse ends of the housing and defines a receiving space therebetween. Each supporting pillar forms a guiding groove in an inner side thereof. At least a tunnel is defined in one of the guiding pillars. A card ejecting mechanism includes an ejecting tab movably supported on a fulcrum formed on the supporting face. The ejecting tab has a biasing pad detachably supported on the mating face. A push arm is movably disposed within the tunnel and forms a head and an actuating end. The actuating end abuts a bearing portion of the ejecting tab whereby when the push rod is actuated, the biasing pad is moved away from the mating face to push an inserted card outward.

Card cartridge connector with ejecting mechanism

An audio jack connector comprises an insulative housing having a mating face and a soldering face, at least one hollow cylinder extending from the mating face and defining a recess therein. A passageway is defined in an inner wall of each cylinder for receiving a contact which projects into the recess for electrically contacting an inserted plug. A retaining member comprises a first hook and a second hook extending from the mating face of the housing. A grounding member comprises a metal base from which at least one metal tube extends for mating with and enclosing the corresponding cylinder of the housing, wherein the metal base is sized to be retainable between the first hook and the second hook of the retaining means and the mating face of the housing.

Audio jack connector

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing having a shielding shell made of a conductive material fitted thereto. The housing has two groups of pins separated by a central slot defined therebetween with a conductive plate received therein. The conductive plate is in electrical connection with the shielding shell. The conductive plate has two resilient fingers formed on a front edge thereof and thus engageable with a counterpart conductive plate of a mating connector. The resiliency of the fingers provides a positive engagement between the two conductive plates thereby establishing a sound electrical connection therebetween. This allows electrostatic charges on the conductive plates to be effectively removed through the shielding shell.
