Devices that include a liquid chamber including at least two ports, wherein the opening of a first port is larger than the opening of a second port, an air chamber including at least one port, and a membrane located between the liquid chamber and the air chamber, and a pressure sensor coupled to the port in the air chamber are provided. Systems including the disclosed devices are also provided. The systems include liquid in the liquid chamber of the device. Methods of using the devices and systems include measuring one or more properties of a liquid by flowing the liquid through the liquid chamber of the system and measuring the pressure produced due to the difference in size of the ports in the liquid chamber.

Microfluidic aspirator and multi-purpose flow sensor and methods of making and using the same

Devices and systems for cell culture that include one or more hollow fibers or channels integrated into a chamber are provided. The hollow fibers or channels and/or the chamber are seeded with one or more cell types. Methods of co-culturing two or more cell types in the devices are also provided.

Devices for cell culture and methods of making and using the same

Disclosed herein are embodiments of devices for managing fluid transport. In particular disclosed embodiments, the devices are used to manage fluid transport in reactor systems, such as bio-assessment systems, chemical synthesis reactors, and the like. The devices disclosed herein include fluid management devices, reservoir assemblies, valving systems, pumps, and combinations thereof. The devices disclosed herein are cost-efficient and user-friendly and can be implemented in a variety of reactor systems.

Devices for fluid management

The present disclosure concerns embodiments of reversibly bonded devices that comprise a reversible bonding component. The reversible bonding component is able to exhibit strong adhesive properties so as to couple device components, but upon exposure to an energy source, the strong adhesive properties are weakened. By weakening the adhesive strength of the reversible bonding component, the device can be deconstructed to access internal biological samples for analysis and characterization.

Reversibly bonded devices and methods of making and using the same

Disclosed herein are embodiments of a device that can be used to mimic the biochemical and physiological actions of a lung organ. Also disclosed herein are embodiments of components that are included in the device as well as methods of making and using the device. Further disclosed are platform device embodiments and various components used therein that can be used in combination with the lung organ devices disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the disclosed devices can be used to determine drug toxicity and also can be used with one or more disease models to determine methods of treating disease.

Disclosed herein are media for culture of cells, tissues, and/or organs. The media formulations disclosed herein can be used to support growth, viability, and/or function of one or more than one cell type, tissue, or organ. In some embodiments, one or more cell types, tissues, organ devices, and/or organs are contacted with a disclosed culture medium under conditions sufficient to support growth, viability, and/or function of the cell types, tissues, and/or organs. The disclosed media can be used in methods of culturing multiple cell types, and in some examples, is used in a platform device including one or more organ devices, for example, by circulating the medium through the one or more organ devices in the platform.

Multi-organ media compositions and methods of their use

Disclosed herein are devices that include a top chamber including at least one port, a bottom chamber including at least one inlet and at least one outlet, wherein the opening of the at least one inlet is smaller than the opening of the at least one outlet, and a membrane located between the top chamber and the bottom chamber, wherein the membrane is fluidly coupled with the top chamber and the bottom chamber. Also disclosed herein are systems including the disclosed devices. The systems include liquid in one or more of the chambers of the device. Methods of using the devices and systems include producing a vacuum by flowing a liquid through the bottom chamber of the system. Due to the difference in size of the inlet and outlet in the bottom chamber, a vacuum is produced in the top chamber.

Microfluidic aspirator and methods of making and using the same

Disclosed herein are embodiments of magnetically controlled valve and pump systems that can be used to control and facilitate fluid flow in fluidic devices. Various types of magnetically controlled valves and pumps are described as well as methods of magnetically-controlling such valves and pumps.
