A method and system for applying a multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network to support QoS in general packet radio service (GPRS) is disclosed. An E-LSP tunnel with reserved bandwidth is pre-configured between Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) and each Service GPRS Support Node (SGSN), and between any two SGSNs. Before an Mobile Station (MS) wishes to transmit or receive packets, it need to ask its designated SSGN for establishing an on-demand L-LSP from the SGSN to the Corresponding Node (CN). This L-LSP is required to tunnel through the pre-configured E-LSP that was mentioned above and here we apply the label stack technique from MPLS. Therefore, the packets of the on-demand L-LSP can be tunneled through the pre-configured E-LSP to the SGSN in which the MS is located, and then the SGSN is able to recognize and locate the mobile station according to the corresponding label in on-demand L-LSP.

Method and system for applying an MPLS network to support QoS in GPRS

The present invention discloses a method for applying a multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network in general packet radio service (GPRS). The MPLS network is established by multiple differentiated service (DS) domains. Each DS domain is constructed by multiple label switching routers (LSRs) and label edge routers (LERs). The LER provides at least a service GPRS supporting node (SGSN) connected to a wireless network base station, and a gate GPRS supporting node (GGSN) connected to a packet switching network. At a signalling plane, IP addresses of all SGSNs and GGSNs are utilized to establish all one-to-one pre-created label switching paths (LSPs) in the MPLS network of the GPRS backbone network. At a transmission plane, the pre-created LSP and LSP tunneling transmit packets between SGSN and GGSN.

Method and system for applying a multi-protocol label switching network in general packet radio service

A mobile host is connected to a communication terminal through a first mobile switching center of a cellular network, a first gateway at a near end of the Internet, and a second gateway at a far end of the Internet. When the mobile host roams from an area controlled by the first mobile switching center to an area controlled by a second mobile switching center, a comparison is done between the first gateway connected to the first mobile switching center and a third gateway that is connected to the second mobile switching center. If the third gateway and the first gateway are different, the third gateway invokes a call transfer procedure to the first gateway to establish a connection between the second gateway and the third gateway, and release a connection between the first gateway and the second gateway.

Voice over IP mobility in IP/cellular networks interworking

A method for packet transmission of multimedia data in a network is provided. The method is used for transmitting a group of pictures (GOP) including a plurality of frames, wherein each frame includes a plurality of packets, and the plurality of frames are of N types of frame. The method includes the following steps. (a) Set i to one, where i is a positive integer. (b) Form an i-th transmission sequence by arranging the packets of the i-th type of frame. (c) Form an (i+1)-th transmission sequence by putting the packets of the (i+1)-th type of frame between packets of the i-th transmission sequence consecutively. (d) Increment i by one. (e) Repeat steps (c) to (d) until i is equal to N. (f) Transmit the N-th transmission sequence.

Method for packet transmission of multimedia data in a network

A method and system capable of providing mobility support for IPv4/IPv6 inter-networking to a mobile node is disclosed. The mobile node in the system has an address mapper, an IPv4 protocol stack and an IPv6 protocol stack in the network layer. When moving from IPv4 to IPv6 networks, the mobile node registered an IPv4 address receives router advertisement packets from an IPv6 router, so as to obtain a IPv6 care-of-address, and resolve the IPv6 care-of-address by an IPv4 care-of-address. The address mapper issues an IPv4 message to register the IPv4 care-of-address. When moving from IPv6 to IPv4 networks, the mobile node registered an IPv6 address receives agent advertisement messages from a foreign agent, so as to obtain an IPv4 care-of-address, resolve the IPv4 care-of-address by an IPv6 care-of-address. The address mapper issues an IPv6 message to register and update binding information by the IPv6 care-of-address.
