New 2xxx aluminum alloys having are disclosed. The new 2xxx aluminum alloys generally include 2.5-3.9 wt. % Cu, 0.82-1.20 wt. % Li, 0.5-2.0 wt. % Zn, 0.10-0.60 wt. % Mn, 0.05-0.35 wt. % Mg, from 0.05 to 0.50 wt. % of at least one grain structure control element, wherein the at least one grain structure control element is selected from the group consisting of Zr, Sc, Cr, V, Hf, other rare earth elements, and combinations thereof, up to 0.22 wt. % Ag, up to 0.15 wt. % Fe, up to 0.12 wt. % Si, and up to 0.15 wt. % Ti, the balance being aluminum, incidental elements and impurities. The new 2xxx aluminum alloys may realize an improved combination of two or more of strength, fracture toughness, elongation, and corrosion resistance.

2XXX aluminum lithium alloys

New aluminum alloys having magnesium and zinc are disclosed. The new magnesium-zinc aluminum alloys may include from 2.5 to 4.0 wt. % Mg, from 2.25 to 4.0 wt. % Zn, wherein (wt. % Mg/wt. % Zn)≥1.0, and wherein (wt. % Mg/wt. % Zn)≤1.6, from 0.20 to 0.9 wt. % Mn, from 0.10 to 0.40 wt. % Cu, up to 1.0 wt. % Li, up to 0.50 wt. % Fe, up to 0.50 wt. % Si, and optional secondary element(s), the balance being aluminum, optional incidental elements and impurities.

Aluminum-magnesium-zinc aluminum alloys

New shape-cast 7xx aluminum alloys products are disclosed. The new shape-cast products may include from 3.0 to 8.0 wt. % Zn, from 1.0 to 3.0 wt. % Mg, where the wt. % Zn exceeds the wt. % Mg, from 0.35 to 1.0 wt. % Cu, where the wt. % Mg exceeds the wt. % Cu, from 0.05 to 0.30 wt. % V, from 0.01 to 1.0 wt. % of at least one secondary element (Mn, Cr, Zr, Ti, B, and combinations thereof), up to 0.50 wt. % Fe, and up to 0.25 wt. % Si, the balance being aluminum and other elements, wherein the aluminum casting alloy include not greater than 0.05 wt. % each of the other elements, and wherein the aluminum casting alloy includes not greater than 0.15 wt. % in total of the other elements.

7XX aluminum casting alloys, and methods for making the same

New aluminum alloys are disclosed and generally include 0.6-1.4 wt. % Si, 0.25-0.90 wt. % Mg, wherein the ratio of wt. % Si to wt. % Mg is from 1.05:1 to 5.0:1, 0.25-2.0 wt. % Cu, 0.10-3.5 wt. % Zn, 0.01-1.0 wt. % Fe, up to 0.8 wt. % Mn, up to 0.25 wt. % Cr, up to 0.20 wt. % Zr, up to 0.20 wt. % V, and up to 0.15 wt. % Ti, wherein the total of Fe+Mn+Cr+Zr+V+Ti is not greater than 2.0 wt. %, the balance being aluminum and impurities. The new aluminum alloys may include Q phase precipitates. In some embodiments, the solvus temperature of the Q phase precipitates is not greater than 950&#xb0; F.

Aluminum alloys, and methods for producing the same

New 3xx aluminum casting alloys are disclosed. The aluminum casting alloys generally include from 6.5 to 11.0 wt. % Si, from 0.20 to 0.80 wt. % Mg, from 0.05 to 0.50 wt. % Cu, from 0.10 to 0.80 wt. % Mn, from 0.005 to 0.05 wt. % Sr, up to 0.25 wt. % Ti, up to 0.30 wt. % Fe, and up to 0.20 wt. % Zn, the balance being aluminum and impurities.

3XX aluminum casting alloys, and methods for making the same

New 7xx aluminum casting alloys are disclosed. The aluminum casting alloys generally include from 3.0 to 8.0 wt. % Zn, from 1.0 to 3.0 wt. % Mg, where the wt. % Zn exceeds the wt. % Mg, from 0.35 to 1.0 wt. % Cu, where the wt. % Mg exceeds the wt. % Cu, from 0.05 to 0.30 wt. % V, from 0.01 to 1.0 wt. % of at least one secondary element (Mn, Cr, Zr, Ti, B, and combinations thereof), up to 0.50 wt. % Fe, and up to 0.25 wt. % Si, the balance being aluminum and other elements, wherein the aluminum casting alloy include not greater than 0.05 wt. % each of the other elements, and wherein the aluminum casting alloy includes not greater than 0.15 wt. % in total of the other elements.

7xx aluminum casting alloys, and methods for making the same

New 6xxx aluminum alloys are disclosed. The new 6xxx aluminum alloys may include 1.05-1.50 wt. Mg, 0.60-0.95 wt. % Si, where the (wt. % Mg)/(wt. % Si) is from 1.30 to 1.90, 0.275-0.50 wt. % Cu, and from 0.05 to 1.0 wt. % of at least one secondary element, wherein the secondary element is selected from the group consisting of V, Fe, Cr, Mn, Zr, Ti, and combinations thereof.

6XXX aluminum alloys, and methods for producing the same

New 2xxx aluminum alloys containing vanadium are disclosed. In one embodiment, the aluminum alloy includes 3.3-4.1 wt. % Cu, 0.7-1.3 wt. % Mg, 0.01-0.16 wt. % V, 0.05-0.6 wt. % Mn, 0.01 to 0.4 wt. % of at least one grain structure control element, the balance being aluminum, incidental elements and impurities. The new alloys may realize an improved combination of properties, such as in the T39 or T89 tempers.

Aluminum-copper alloys containing vanadium

Improved aluminum casting alloys having are disclosed. The new aluminum casting alloys generally include manganese, zinc, and zirconium. In this regard, the new aluminum casting alloys generally include from 2.0 to 5.0 wt. % Mn, 1.0-4.5 wt. % Zn, and from 0.05 to 0.9 wt. % Zr, the balance being aluminum, optional secondary elements, iron and silicon impurities, and other elements, where the new aluminum casting alloy includes not greater than 0.15 wt. % each of the other elements, and where the new aluminum casting alloy included not greater than 0.50 wt. % in total of the other elements.

Aluminum casting alloys having manganese, zinc and zirconium

The present disclosure relates to new materials comprising Al, Co, Fe, and Ni. The new materials may realize a single phase field of a face-centered cubic (fcc) solid solution structure immediately below the solidus temperature of the material. The new materials may include at least one precipitate phase and have a solvus temperature of at least 1000&#xb0; C. The new materials may include 4.4-11.4 wt. % Al, 4.9-42.2 wt. % Co, 4.6-28.9 wt. % Fe, and 44.1-86.1 wt. % Ni. In one embodiment, the precipitate is selected from the group consisting of the L1phase, the B2 phase, and combinations thereof. The new alloys may realize improved high temperature properties.

Fcc materials of aluminum, cobalt, iron and nickel, and products made therefrom

The present application discloses wrought 2xxx Al&#x2014;Li alloy products that are work insensitive. The wrought aluminum alloy products generally include from about 2.75 wt. % to about 5.0 wt. % Cu, from about 0.2 wt. % to about 0.8 wt. % Mg, where the ratio of copper-to-magnesium ratio (Cu/Mg) in the aluminum alloy is in the range of from about 6.1 to about 17, from about 0.1 wt. % to 1.10 wt. % Li, from about 0.3 wt. % to about 2.0 wt. % Ag, from 0.50 wt. % to about 1.5 wt. % Zn, up to about 1.0 wt. % Mn, the balance being aluminum, optional incidental elements, and impurities. The wrought aluminum alloy products may realize a low strength differential and in a short aging time due to their work insensitive nature.

2XXX series aluminum lithium alloys having low strength differential

New aluminum casting alloys having 8.5-9.5 wt. % silicon, 0.8-2.0 wt. % copper (Cu), 0.20-0.53 wt. % magnesium (Mg), and 0.35 to 0.8 wt. % manganese are disclosed. The alloy may be solution heat treated, treated in accordance with T5 tempering and/or artificially aged to produce castings, e.g., for cylinder heads and engine blocks. In one embodiment, the castings are made by high pressure die casting.

High performance AlSiMgCu casting alloy

An aluminum casting alloy has 8.5-9.5 wt. % silicon, 0.5-2.0 wt. % copper (Cu), 0.27-0.53 wt. % magnesium (Mg), wherein the aluminum casting alloy includes copper and magnesium such that 4.7&#x2264;(Cu+10Mg)&#x2264;5.8, and other elements, the balance being aluminum. Selected elements may be added to the base composition to give resistance to degradation of tensile properties due to exposure to heat. The thermal treatment of the alloy is calculated based upon wt. % composition to solutionize unwanted phases having a negative impact on properties and may include a three level ramp-up and soak to a final temperature followed by cold water quenching and artificial aging.

The present disclosure relates to new materials comprising Al, Co, and Ni. The new materials may include 6.7-11.4 wt. % Al, 5.0-48.0 wt. % Co, and 43.9-88.3 wt. % Ni. In one embodiment, the precipitate is selected from the group consisting of the L1phase, the B2 phase, and combinations thereof. The new alloys may realize improved high temperature properties.
