A wearable sound device includes a sound outlet, a side opening, an air pulse generating (APG) device, and an exchanger. The exchanger includes a first opening, a second opening, a third opening, and a fourth opening. The first opening and the second opening are on a first side of the exchanger facing a first chamber, and the third opening and the fourth opening are on a second side of the exchanger facing the sound outlet. The APG device produces a first airflow flowing through a first air pathway between an ambient and the third opening. A second airflow flows through a second air pathway between the fourth opening and the side opening. The first air pathway and the second air pathway are isolated from each other.

Wearable sound device and method for ventilation and acoustic tuning

The air-pulse generating device comprises a film structure, operating at an ultrasonic operating frequency, and a resonant chamber, formed on a side of the film structure. A resonance is formed within the resonance chamber. Due to the resonant chamber, the APG device has a peak on a frequency response of an acoustic property of the APG device at the ultrasonic operating frequency.

A manufacturing method for a device includes: providing a wafer including a first layer and a second layer; forming and patterning an actuating material formed on the wafer; patterning the first layer of the wafer to form a trench line; and removing a first part of the second layer. The first layer forms a film structure including a membrane. A slit is formed within and penetrates through the membrane because of the trench line. The film structure is actuated to form a vent temporarily because of the slit. An ear canal and an ambient of a wearable sound device are to be connected via the vent temporarily opened. The slit divides the membrane into a first membrane portion and a second membrane portion. A difference between the displacements of these two membrane portions is larger than a thickness of the membrane when the vent is formed.

The first flap and the second flap are actuated to perform a differential movement to form an opening or a virtual valve. A slit is formed between the first flap and the second flap, and the opening or the virtual valve is formed because of the slit. The slit is formed as a zigzagging pattern on the film structure.

The membrane includes a first flap, a second flap and a third flap. The membrane partitions a space into a first volume and a second volume, and the first volume and the second volume are connected when the first vent and the second vent are formed. The first flap is actuated to move toward a first direction and the second flap is actuated to move toward a second direction opposite to the first direction, so as to form the first vent.
