A method includes receiving a measurement associated with a cloud point of a biofuel being produced in a refining system. The method also includes determining how to adjust the refining system based on a desired cloud point of the biofuel and the measurement associated with the cloud point. The method further includes outputting a control signal to adjust the refining system based on the determination. Determining how to adjust the refining system could include determining how to adjust an inlet temperature of a reactor in the refining system. The reactor could represent an isomerization reactor, and a heater could heat material entering the isomerization reactor. Determining how to adjust the inlet temperature of the reactor could include determining how to adjust operation of the heater. A model predictive control (MPC) technique could be used to determine how to adjust the inlet temperature of the isomerization reactor.

Active cloud point controller for refining applications and related method

One exemplary embodiment can be a process for facilitating a transfer of a metal catalyst component from at least one donor particle to at least one recipient particle in a catalytic naphtha reforming unit. The process can include transferring an effective amount of the metal catalyst component from the at least one donor particle to the at least one recipient particle under conditions to effect such transfer to improve a conversion of a hydrocarbon feed.

In one embodiment, a reforming catalyst can include indium, tin, and a catalytically effective amount of a group VIII element for one or more reforming reactions. Typically, at least about 25%, by mole, of the indium is an In(3+) species based on the total moles of indium after exposure for about 30 minutes in an atmosphere including about 100% hydrogen, by mole, at a temperature of about 565&#xb0; C. Usually, no more than about 25%, by mole, of the tin is a Sn(4+) species based on the total moles of tin after exposure for about 30 minutes in an atmosphere including about 100% hydrogen, by mole, at a temperature of about 565&#xb0; C.

Reforming catalyst

Hydrocarbon conversion processes having a susceptibility to coke formation on the internal surfaces of processing equipment are improved by inhibiting the formation of coke with the use of a glass bead treatment for the metal surfaces. After treating with ordinary glass bead cleaning methods, metal surfaces are found to inhibit coke formation. The glass bead treatment is easily performed and, therefore, offers advantages over other chemical treatments for the deposition of silica on reactor internals.

This invention relates to a method of coating fibers by contacting the fibers with an organochlorosilane, drying and heating the fibers at a temperature of about 300.degree. to 500.degree. C., thereby coating the fibers. The choice of organochlorosilane and atmosphere under which the heating takes place will determine the composition of the coating.
