An airbag module for a roof opening of a vehicle having an expandable safety device configured to be deployed after a dynamic vehicle event, such as a vehicle rollover. The airbag module includes a mechanism and an inflator in order to deploy the expandable safety device across the roof opening of the vehicle.

Roof airbag module

A system for increasing passenger safety within an airplane () includes a forward seat () having a back surface () that faces an occupant seat (). A tray table holder () is secured to or formed integrally with the back of the forward seat (). A tray table () is rotatably connected to the tray table holder via a hinge () and is rotatable relative to the tray table holder. The tray table defines a cavity () inside the tray table. An airbag () is within the cavity. An inlet device () is coupled to the airbag and is rotatable about the hinge () such that the inflator inlet can rotate as the tray table rotates relative to the tray table holder. An inflator () is connected to the inlet device and is configured to deliver gas to the airbag through the inflator inlet.

An airbag module assembly has an airbag cushion with at least one vent, a housing structure for receiving the airbag cushion, a housing cover for attachment to the housing structure, a vent connector connected to the vent, a pin puller mechanism with a retractable pin, and a flexible conduit extending from the airbag cushion adjacent the vent to the pin puller mechanism. The vent connector extends inside the conduit to a looped end for attachment to the retractable pin. The vent connector can be a rope or wire. The vent is initially in a closed position during deployment of the airbag. The airbag cushion is folded about the conduit during assembly and the vent connector is configured to pass through the flexible conduit when the airbag cushion is folded.

A seat having a seat frame with a seat back designed to prevent injuries to a rear occupant seated behind the seat as the rear occupant moves forward into the seat back during a frontal crash of a vehicle, the seat including a seat back frame part designed to support the back of any occupant but which can rotate during a crash as a rear occupant moves forward into the seat back, the invention including at least one energy absorbing assembly to control the rotary motion of the rotating seat frame part, the rotating frame part maintained in a non-rotating state by an articulating or breakable pin which when moved or broken permits the frame part to rotate as the rear occupant engages the seat frame in response to a frontal vehicular crash.

A driver airbag module () comprising a cover (), a housing () matably configured with cover (), a pyrotechnic inflator () having a flange (), and airbag fitted within the space between housing () and cover (), the airbag inflating with gas provided by the inflator (), wherein the heat shield () is positioned between the lower surface () of housing () and an upper surface () of flange (), the heat shield protectively shielding surface () from the heat transfer from flange () to prevent surface () from melting.

An air bag assembly comprising: an inflator for providing a source of inflation gas, and an air bag having a first end and a second end and a first side and a second side, the air bag configured to have a first inflatable chamber proximate the first end, a second inflatable chamber proximate the second and a non-inflatable region therebetween; the air bag including an inlet communicated with the inflator, the air bag further including a plurality of joints or seams, which connect selective regions of the first and second sides together thereby controlling the inflatable volume of the air bag, a top portion of each of the plurality of joints or seams located a determinable distance from a top of the air bag to form within the air bag an integral gas flow path or channel, the inlet generally positioned spaced from a top of the air bag and generally located between the first inflatable chamber and second Inflatable chamber.
