One example method includes generating, by a conference provider, a virtual space; adding a plurality of members to the virtual space; adding one or more resources to the virtual space in response to one or more inputs from one or more of the members; initiating, by the conference provider, a conference between two or more of the members; attaching the conference to the virtual space; and providing an indication of the conference in the virtual space.

Persistent hybrid virtual collaborative workspaces

Content-aware device selection is performed for modifying content elements in digital collaboration spaces. A content element, such as a text box or drawing space, is detected within a digital collaboration space based on input received from a first device of a first device type. A second device type to use to modify the content element is determined based on a content type of the content element. One or more devices of that second device type which are authenticated to access the digital collaboration space are identified. At least one of those authenticated devices are then prompted for input to use to modify the content element. The content element is then modified within the digital collaboration space based on the input received from at least one of those prompted devices.

A request is received. The request identifies a first conference participant of a conference as a follow-along participant for a second conference participant of the conference for which a whiteboard is enabled. A trigger associated with the first conference participant is identified. Responsive to the identified trigger, a second viewport is set for display at a device of the second conference participant. The second viewport is based on a first viewport into the whiteboard where the first viewport is displayed at a device of the first conference participant.

A recommended workspace at a premises is determined for a user of a software platform requesting a workspace reservation based on learned preferences specific to the user. The workspace reservation request is initiated via an interaction by the user with one or more graphical user interfaces displaying information associated with workspaces at the premises. Scores for each of multiple candidate workspaces identified for the user from amongst available ones of the workspaces are determined based on weights defined according to learned personnel preferences of the user and learned workspace preferences of the user. A recommended workspace is determined for the user as a candidate workspace of the multiple candidate workspaces corresponding to a highest one of the scores. An indication of the recommended workspace is then output for display within the one or more graphical user interfaces in response to the workspace reservation request.

Techniques for providing using software applications within persistent hybrid virtual collaborative workspaces are provided. In an example, a method establishes a virtual collaborative workspace characterized by or more virtual collaborative workspace resources and associated with one or more users to interact with other users or collaborative workspace resources within the virtual collaborative workspace. The method further receives, from a client device associated with a first user associated with the virtual space, an identification of an application to use in the virtual collaborative workspace. The method, based on the receiving, adds the application to the virtual collaborative workspace and configures the application to access one or more resources associated with the virtual collaborative workspace. The method further provides access to the application within the virtual collaborative workspace to at least a subset of the users associated with the virtual collaborative workspace.

Applications within persistent hybrid collaborative workspaces

A conference gallery view intelligence system determines regions of interest for display within views of conferencing software based on input streams received from devices within a conference room during a conference. Conference participants are detected in the conference room based on an input video stream received from a video capture device. A direction of audio from the conference participants is determined based on an input audio stream received from a multi-directional audio capture device. A conversational context within the conference room is then determined based on the direction of the audio and locations of the one or more conference participants in the conference room. A region of interest to output within conferencing software is determined based on the conversational context, and the region of interest is output for display within a view of the conferencing software.

Access to functionality of a software service is enabled at a first device associated with a user based on the first device being in a primary mode. A connection may thereafter be established between the software service and a second device associated with the same user. In response to that connection, access to a subset of the functionality of the software service is limited at the second device based on the second device being in a secondary mode determined based on the second device. Because the first device and the second device are used by the same user, the software service does not represent those devices as separate users of the software service, but rather identifies only the first device, as the primary mode device, in connection with the user to other users of the software service.

Limiting software functionality access based on device mode

Reservations of resources within a dynamic workspace are made and facilitated including by pushing configurations specific to a worker for whom a reservation is made to the resource for a limited time period for the reservation. When the worker arrives for the reservation and checks in, configurations associated with the worker are obtained and pushed to the resource to configure the resource for use by the worker for a time period of the reservation. In some cases, an identity of the worker may be verified to complete the check in process for the reservation. In response to an end time of the reservation being determined, such as based on a scheduled end time for the reservation or based on a determination that the resource has gone unused for some amount of time, the configurations are removed from the resource to prepare the resource for use by a next worker.

Techniques for managing outputs from persistent hybrid collaborative workspaces are disclosed. In an example, a method receives, from a client device, a request to view a history of the virtual collaborative workspace. The method obtains, from a data store, past occurrences associated with one or more virtual collaborative workspace resources within the virtual space. The virtual collaborative workspace resources can include a virtual collaborative workspace, a list of users associated with the virtual collaborative workspace, a shared document, a video stream, or textual messages. The method further transmits indications of the one or more virtual collaborative workspace resources to the client device.

Outputs from persistent hybrid collaborative workspaces

One example method includes receiving a request to join a virtual space, the request received from a user device associated with a first user; responsive to determining that the first user is a member of the virtual space, providing access to the virtual space; changing a status of the first user based on the first user accessing the virtual space; providing state information associated with a then-current state of the virtual space; and providing an indication of a conference attached to the virtual space to the first user, the conference being between two or more members of the virtual space.

Providing member interactions in persistent hybrid virtual collaborative workspaces

Whiteboard roles controlling levels of access to functionality of a digital whiteboard shared to a video conference for participants of the video conference are inherited based on conference roles of those participants within the video conference. Based on a request to share a digital whiteboard to a video conference, a whiteboard role is determined for each participant of the video conference based on a conference role of the participant within the video conference. For each participant during the video conference, access to functionality of the digital whiteboard corresponding to the whiteboard role determined for the participant is enabled, in which different functionality of the digital whiteboard is enabled for different whiteboard roles.

Temporary access to a digital whiteboard is enabled for conference participants during a conference (e.g., a video conference). Based on a request to share a digital whiteboard with conference participants during a conference, ones of the conference participants to which to grant temporary access permissions for the digital whiteboard are determined. The temporary access permissions are granted to enable the ones of the conference participants to access the digital whiteboard during the conference. Based on an event occurrence, which may, for example, correspond to a termination of the conference or a disconnection of an owner of the digital whiteboard from the conference, the temporary access permissions are revoked to restrict further access to the digital whiteboard by the ones of the conference participants.

A conference gallery view intelligence system determines at least two regions of interest within a conference room based on an input video stream received from a video capture device located within the conference room. An output video stream for rendering within conferencing software is produced for each of the at least two regions of interest. The output video stream for each of the at least two regions of interest is then transmitted to one or more client devices connected to the conferencing software.

Inter-party communications, such as telephony communications, virtual meeting communications, or messaging communications, are switched between clients while in progress. An inter-party communication may be detected at a first client. A channel may then be opened between the first client and a second client responsive to an operator initiating switching the inter-party communication from the first client to the second client. The inter-party communication may be switched from the first client to the second client using the channel while the inter-party communication remains in progress. The inter-party communication may then be continued at the second client.

One example method includes determining, by a computing device, a user present in a room is associated with a virtual space hosted at a video conference provider, wherein the room includes one or more peripheral devices; connecting, by the computing device, to the virtual space; receiving, by the computing device, data from at least one of the one or more peripheral devices or one or more user devices while connected to the virtual space, the one or more user devices associated with the user or one or more other users within the room; transmitting, by the computing device, at least a portion of the data to the virtual space; determining, by the computing device, a state change associated with the room based on the data received from the one or more peripheral devices or one or more user devices; generating, by the computing device, a change detection signal; and transmitting, by the computing device, the change detection signal to the video conference provider to cause the video conference provider to store data associated with the change detection signal in the virtual space.
