A game system may provide a plurality of cards, at least one token and a token storage and distribution system. The plurality of cards may each have at least one indicium representing a value. The token(s) may have a value that is substitutable for at least a portion of the value associated with the card. The token storage and distribution system comprises a slot for depositing the token(s) into the token storage and distribution system. The slot corresponds to a storage compartment that further comprises sub-compartments and a diverter to direct the deposited token into one of the sub-compartments. The token storage and distribution system defines one of more locations for positioning one or more build piles for the cards being played. The player may select to access one of the sub-compartments according to a rule set and acquire the token(s) present, if any, in the selected sub-compartment.

A timer mechanism for a game is disclosed herein. The timer mechanism including: an end portion; an object secured to the end portion by a retractable member capable of being extracted from the object and retracted into the object by a winding mechanism; and an indicator mechanism located at the end portion for indicating when the object has come into proximity with the end portion and has contacted a portion of the indicator mechanism through retraction of the retractable member into the object by the winding mechanism.

A ramp for launching an object at a target is provided, the ramp having: a release mechanism mounted to the ramp for movement between a first position and a second position, wherein the release mechanism is configured to retain the object with respect to the ramp when it is in the first position and wherein the release mechanism is configured to release the object when the release mechanism is in the second position; and wherein the release mechanism further comprises an arm member pivotally mounted to the ramp and the arm member has a plurality of features each spaced from each other and extending from the arm member above a surface of the ramp when the release mechanism is in the first position.

A method of playing a word forming game comprises distributing a predetermined number of tiles to a set of players so as to form a hand of play associated with each player. Each tile has a character value associated with the tile, and at least one tile has a special feature value. The players form words on a playing surface, and the words comprise one or more tiles from a player's hand of play and one or more tiles already on the playing surface. Exemplary special feature values instruct players to skip a turn, to reverse the order of play, or to redistribute tiles. Each tile has a nesting portion and a nested portion. The nesting portion is characterized a concavity into which another playing tile may be nested and the nested portion is characterized by a convex edge.
