A golf club head is provided with a body that has an address position with a zero degree bounce portion on the sole and a center sole position with a multi-relief surface of the sole having a negative bounce portion. The negative bounce portion may comprise a negative 0.5 to a negative 4.0 degree surface. In one embodiment, the multi-relief surface may comprise the negative bounce portion and a cutaway portion extending to the back of the sole, which may have a depth of about 0.05 to 0.5 inch from a regular sole surface. In another embodiment, the golf club head includes a weight system to adjust the center of gravity. In one embodiment, the weight system is a tube having a weight at one end that may be inserted into the golf club head to move the center of gravity at least forward and backward within 6 mm and up and down within 6 mm. Preferably, the tube is angled downward toward the face by at least 3 degrees.

A metal wood golf club head adapted for attachment to a shaft, with a body comprising of a first body portion and a second body portion, each portion constructed of a different density material. Combining a high density material in the first body portion with a low density material in the second body portion, creates an ultra-low center of gravity relative to the geometric face center, resulting in higher launch angles and spin rate ratios. Thickening the lower area of the front face lowers the center of gravity and upwardly shifts the coefficient of restitution to the geometric center of the face.

A metal wood golf club head adapted for attachment to a shaft, comprising of a body portion and a crown portion, each portion constructed of a different density material. The material for the crown portion is preferably a composite. A vibration dampening gasket is disposed between the ledge and lip sections of the body and crown respectively.

A golf club head having integrally attached weight members is disclosed and claimed. The club head body defines at least a toe chamber and a heel chamber. Weights of variable mass are positioned within the chambers, moving the club head center of gravity back and down.

A hosel set for a golf club is provided that contains a plurality of hosels that can be used interchangeably and removably with one or more golf club heads to secure a shaft to the golf club heads. The hosels vary in length while maintaining the same weight. Mating, curved surfaces are provided on the hosel and the golf club head to facilitate ease of bending and to reduce binding and gapping between the hosel and the golf club head.

A golf club including a head, a bore-through hosel insert, and a shaft is disclosed and claimed. The head includes a passage in which the bore-through hosel insert is positioned and retained. The bore-through hosel insert has a specific gravity much lower than the club head specific gravity. This allows mass that would necessarily have been located in the hosel in the heel of the club head to be relocated to more beneficial areas of the club. This allows the club designer to, for example, increase the overall size of the club head, expand the sweet spot, enhance the moment of inertia, and/or optimize the club head center of gravity location.
