An oral adhering lozenge including a sparsely water-soluble active ingredient is provided. In one aspect, an oral adhering lozenge having at least 5 milliequivalents (mEq) of acid neutralizing capacity is provided. The acid neutralization capacity may be achieved with at least 200 milligrams of a sparsely water-soluble antacid, such as calcium carbonate. To achieve a fast enough speed of dissolution with such a large quantity of sparsely water-soluble active ingredient, one or more water-soluble ingredients acting as a compression binder and/or bulking agent that dissolves quickly in water is included in an amount equal to greater than the sparsely soluble active ingredient in the non-adhesive layer.

Orally adhering lozenges comprising soluble dietary fiber are provided herein. The orally adhering lozenges provided herein may be in the form of tablet-type lozenges comprising compressed powders and/or granules in at least two layers. The orally adhering lozenges include at least 30% soluble dietary fiber. The orally adhering lozenges also include an adhesive component to adhere the lozenge inside the mouth. The orally adhering lozenges are also low in cariogenic sugar, non-resistant starch, and polyols.

An embodiment combines the concepts of image enhancement and voice-sound command and control to enhance the experience of viewing images by tracking where the viewer is indicating with his/her voice. The result is to make the viewing experience more like viewing the original scene, or to enhance the viewing experience in new ways beyond the original experience, either automatically, or by interacting with a photographer's previously specified intentions for what should happen when the viewer identifies, with his/her voice sounds, including, but not limited to, words, voice tone, voice inflection, voice pitch, or voice loudness, a particular portion of an image or images taken by that photographer.

An oral adhering lozenge is provided which delivers to the mouth a component with an undesirable flavor and a component for delivering a masking flavor. The oral adhering lozenge comprises a first, adherent layer and a second layer. The first, adherent layer includes a flavor-masking component, and the second layer includes both an active component and a flavor-masking component. In another configuration, the first, adherent layer includes both an active component and a flavor-masking component. In use, the second layer of the lozenge generally finishes dissolving and/or eroding in the mouth before the first layer finishes dissolving and/or eroding. The later eroding adherent layer will continue to release the flavor-masking component after all of the active component has been released into the mouth, thereby providing increased masking of any bitter aftertaste of the active.

A system and method to automatically modify the functionality of telephones when they are located in particular environments. Located in each such environment is a low power radio transmitter with limited range. When the telephone detects a signal from the low power transmitter, the telephone changes its mode of operation such as by turning off a speaker or a ring signal capability or a normal display capability or a normal key input capability. A system for reducing traffic accidents caused by distraction from a mobile telecom device. The system detects when the device is near a driver's seat of a moving vehicle. While the system is carrying a voice call between a remote voice device and the mobile device, the system modifies voice signal transmission between the devices by periodically playing a beep or other signal to remind the parties that one of them is driving and suspends voice signal transmission from the remote device to the mobile device when the system detects that circumstances affecting level of attention required for driving merit the driver paying greater attention.

A device in an automobile includes a camera that takes images of drivers while they are driving. It detects and reports identity of the driver with automated image processing. It also reports how much the car is driven, by whom, when, where, carrying what load, at what speed compared to the speed limit, with what pattern of hard breaking or hard cornering, whether the driver looked into the blind spot before changing lanes, and whether the driver allowed their phone to enter a restricted state while driving. The device may be built in or retrofit. The retrofit device can detect if it is depowered or removed from the vehicle and report this to the insurance company, rental company, parents, and employers.

This invention is directed to a superior adhesive for oral adhering discs or troches. The adhesive is at least 80% acacia gum mixed with calcium carbonate so that, as the acacia gum is combined with water, it does not yield a pH lower than 5.5. The preferred ratio of acacia gum to calcium carbonate is within the range 15:1 to 50:1.

A system for reducing traffic accidents caused by distraction from a mobile telecom device. The system detects when the device is near a driver's seat of a moving vehicle. When the network receives a call from a caller directed to a called person associated with the mobile telecom device, the system plays a message to the caller stating that the called person is driving and asking whether the call is important enough to put through. If the caller provides an affirmative response, the system puts the call through to the telecom device, and if the caller provides a negative response or no response, the system does not put the call through.
