Hoses include an inner tube, a reinforcement layer disposed outwardly from the inner tube, and a cover layer disposed outwardly from the reinforcement layer, where the cover layer and/or the inner tube include(s) a composition having a sustainable content. The composition includes one or more ethylene based sustainable polymers. The one or more ethylene based sustainable polymers is formed of ethylene monomer derived from one or more renewable sources. The one or more ethylene based sustainable polymers may be one or more of PVC sustainable polymer, EPDM sustainable polymer and EPR sustainable polymer.

Sustainable industrial hose

Hoses include an inner tube, a reinforcement layer disposed outwardly from the inner tube, and a cover layer disposed outwardly from the reinforcement layer, where the cover layer and/or the inner tube includes a cured composition having a sustainable content and formed from a mixture including EPDM/EPR sustainable polymer and a sulfur or peroxide based curing system. In some cases, the EPDM/EPR sustainable polymer has ethylene monomer derived from one or more renewable sources, such as, ethylene monomer derived from sugar cane. The mixture may further include one or more of recovered carbon black and sustainable oils from renewable sources. The hose embodiments may also include the reinforcement layer formed of fibers from sustainable material. The hose may contain the sustainable content in an amount of up to 75% by weight based upon total hose weight, or even greater than 25% by weight based upon total hose weight.

Hose embodiments include an inner tube, a reinforcement layer disposed outwardly adjacent the inner tube, and an outer cover layer disposed outwardly adjacent the reinforcement layer. One or more of the inner tube and cover layer may be based upon a curable composition having EPDM, a filler package, and a sulfur curative, and after curing, the hose embodiments meet the testing requirements of the UL 94 standard. In some cases, the inner tube is based upon the curable composition, while in some other cases, the cover layer is based upon the curable composition. Yet, in other cases, the inner tube and the cover layer each is based upon the curable composition. In some aspects, the curable composition includes the EPDM in an amount of from 10% to 30% by weight, or even in an amount of from 30% to 80% by weight.

Flame resistant rubber based articles

A composition includes at least one natural or synthetic rubber material, a severely hydrotreated naphthenic distillate incorporated in amount equal to or less than 30% by weight of the composition, and a sulfur curative. After curing, the composition provides acceptable cold flexibility at a temperature lower than &#x2212;60 deg C., at a temperature as low as &#x2212;68 deg C., or even at a temperature as low as &#x2212;73 deg C. In some aspects, the at least one natural or synthetic rubber material is a synthetic rubber such as, but not limited to, an ethylenepropylene-diene copolymer rubber. In some cases, where used, the ethylenepropylene-diene copolymer rubber is selected from the group consisting of ethylene-propylene-cyclopentadiene terpolymer, ethylene-propylene ethylidene norbornene terpolymer, ethylene-propylene-I, and mixtures thereof.

Severely hydrotreated naphthenic distillate containing rubber compositions

A hose includes an inner tube containing a blend of chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) with ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM), from 5 phr to 15 phr of a branched plasticizer, from 10 phr to 30 phr carbon black, from 30 phr to 60 phr mineral filling, and a peroxide curing agent. The hose defines an inner conduit. A reinforcement layer is disposed outwardly adjacent the inner tube, and an outer cover disposed outwardly adjacent the reinforcement layer. Upon and after curing, the inner tube at least meets methyl borate resistance, acetone resistance and pentane resistance requirements of Australian Standard AS1335. In some aspects, after curing the inner tube exceeds the methyl borate resistance, acetone resistance and pentane resistance requirements of the Australian Standard AS1335. Also, after curing, the hose at least meets flame resistance requirements of the Australian Standard AS1335.
