Multi-layered vaginal ringscomprising silicone elastomers and pharmaceutically active ingredients are disclosed. The rings comprise a number of layers, at least one of which contains a pharmaceutically active ingredient, and each of which is a silicone elastomer. The multiple layers preferably are produced from these layers of different compositions, including an inner layer, a middle layer, and an outer layer. After extrusion and simultaneous curing, however, the ringincludes a contiguous body which comprises a continuous silicone body providing unimpeded diffusion of the pharmaceutically active ingredient from the inner layer (s)to the outer layer (s). Methods of producing these vaginal rings and of using them are also disclosed.
