Systems and methods for providing dispatch call features are provided. The dispatch call features include the ability to maintain multiple simultaneous dispatch calls and the ability to manage multiple dispatch stations. The maintenance of multiple simultaneous dispatch calls feature allows a dispatch station to place a current dispatch call on-hold to either initiate a new dispatch call or to accept an incoming dispatch call. The management of multiple dispatch stations feature allows a number of dispatch stations to be associated with one or more dispatch station identifiers. When a dispatch call is made to one of the dispatch station identifiers, all associated dispatch stations are paged. The first dispatch station to respond to the page is connected to the incoming dispatch call.

System and method for providing dispatch call features

When an ad hoc group call is initiated, or at a subsequent time but before the group call is terminated, a call originator may set a parameter to establish a time limit. The time limit is invoked when the call originator drops from the group call. The time limit may be set to zero time indicating that all participants will be disconnected and the group call will be terminated immediately upon exit of the call originator. The time limit may also be set to a predetermined amount of time, which indicates that the group call may remain up until the predetermined amount of time expires. If no parameter to establish a time limit is selected, the group call may remain indefinitely even after the originator exits the group call.

Method and computer-readable medium for terminating options for dispatch group calls

A method and computer-readable medium for displaying group call status information and participant status information for a group call are provided. Users participating in a dispatch group session (call) are provided with details about the group itself (group status) and the users participating in the group (participant status). When changes are made to the group call, the group call status information and the participant status information may be updated and displayed in real time.

Method and computer-readable medium for in-call status for dispatch group calls

A wireless device and method for providing location updates to a wireless network includes determining a current location of the wireless device, comparing the current location to a second location and transmitting a location update, including presence information, to the wireless network when the current location differs from the second location by at least a predetermined geographical distance. The predetermined geographical distance is determined in accordance with at least one of subscription information associated with the subscriber unit, including a subscription fee paid, an enabled service and a network state. The current location may be determined via GPS, wireless network based position determination or other method.
