A physical power supply unit (PSU) may be connected to several load subsystems. A first load subsystem may receive a first portion of a first load power directly from the physical PSU via a main power connector, the main power connector having a power limit less than the first load power. A second load subsystem may receive a second load power directly from the physical PSU to provide a second portion of the first load power to the first load subsystem via a power connection between the second load subsystem and the first load subsystem. A sum of the first portion of the first load power and the second portion of the first load power may be greater than the power limit of the main power connector.

A display cable supports communication of display information and peripheral information between a display and an information handling system by selectively adapting data links of the display cable to include peripheral information. The data links can switch between display information and peripheral information communication or can include identifier information to support switching of both types of information on a common data link.

A display provides power to an information handling system through a display cable. The display cable includes a power wire and an auxiliary channel. A dual transceiver architecture provides source and sink device capabilities for communicating visual information between information handling systems and displays. A detector determines whether a cable connected to a port provides visual information or receives digital information. If visual information is received at a port, the visual information is provided to an adjacent port through a dual transceiver architecture so that the visual information is available to forward to another display, information handling system or other device. A common connector configuration simplifies the connection of multiple displays or devices, such as in a daisy chain configuration.

A method of providing information for display includes receiving primary, secondary, and tertiary information for display at an information handling system. The tertiary information is communicated to a display interface after the primary and secondary information during a time period otherwise assigned to the communication of dummy information. This allows more information to be communicated via a communication channel.

Information handling system and method for using main link data channels

A modular display system and method assembles an external interface module with a display module to support built-to-order display configurations. The display module has display panel, timing controller and speaker components assembled in a display module housing that accepts a single LVDS and a single audio interface. The external interface module couples to the display module housing to form an integral display system. Selective assembly of the display system from plural types of external interface modules allows selective configuration of the display system with various television and information handling system display functionalities, such as to fill a purchaser order in a build-to-order manufacturing process.
