A vehicle power system includes a controller that reduces a voltage setpoint of an alternator by a predetermined amount in response to a magnitude of electric charge provided by the alternator during a predetermined time period exceeding a first threshold and a rate of change of power output by the alternator exceeding a second threshold during the time period. The controller also regulates an output voltage of the alternator based on the setpoint.

Vehicle transient voltage control

System and method are disclosed for power management in a vehicle having two or more alternators. An example vehicle power system includes first and second alternators, and a processor. The processor is configured to determine that a load coupled to the first and second alternators increases at greater than a threshold rate. The processor is also configured to responsively (i) reduce respective voltage setpoints of the first and second alternators, and (ii) turn off the second alternator. And the processor is further configured to, after determining that a voltage transient caused by the load has expired, turn on the second alternator.

Dual alternator vehicle power management

A vehicle system includes a voltage converter configured to electrically isolate and convert power transferred between high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) busses, and a controller configured to, responsive to regenerative power exceeding a charge power limit of a traction battery receiving charge via the HV bus, increase an output voltage of the converter to initiate transfer of some of the regenerative power to an auxiliary battery connected with the LV bus.

Regenerative braking power distribution

A system and method of improving the control quality of a vehicle engine having a rotatable and positionable crankshaft by prioritizing tasks to be performed by a microprocessor preprogrammed with an inventory of foreground and background engine tasks affecting the efficiency and performance of the vehicle. The invention includes sensing the speed of rotation of the crankshaft to provide a first, second, or third signal indicative of respective low, medium, or high crankshaft speeds, sensing the position of the crankshaft to provide a fourth signal of the crankshaft position, and processing these signals. The foreground tasks are selected if the fourth signal is received. A first set of the foreground tasks are selected if the first signal is received. A second set of the foreground tasks are selected if the second signal is received. A third set of the foreground tasks are selected if the third signal is received.

System and method of reducing chronometric load

EGR system for an internal combustion engine comprises a stepper motor driven EGR valve (150) to control the rate of exhaust gas recirculation in the engine and an electronic controller (EEC 100) for determining a desired EGR percent mass flow rate as a function comprising a rotational speed value and an aircharge value of the engine, converting the EGR percent mass flow rate to an EGR mass flow rate value, adjusting the EGR mass flow rate value as a function of an exhaust gas temperature value and an absolute exhaust gas backpressure value using MAP values, determining a pressure ratio value across an EGR orifice (155) cooperating with the EGR valve, and determining a required number of motor steps as a function of the adjusted EGR mass flow rate value and the pressure ratio value to achieve the desired EGR percent mass flow rate.

Exhaust gas recirculation system

A pet privy which separates coagulated granular absorbent litter material and feces from uncoagulated granular absorbent litter material, composed generally of a litter box component pivotally connected with respect to a support frame. The litter box component, in turn, is composed generally of a tray for holding granular absorbent litter material, a hood member connected with the tray having a pet access port at a frontwall thereof and a discharge chute at a rearwall thereof, a retention chamber adjacent the rearwall of the hood member, a filter grid overlying the retention chamber, a discharge funnel overlying the retention chamber and adjacent the filter grid, and a disposal bag removably connected with the discharge chute. In operation, when the granular absorbent litter material requires servicing, the user simply pivots the litter box component on the support frame, thereby causing the granular absorbent litter material to slide toward the rearwall. Only uncoagulated granular absorbent litter material passes through the filter grid into retention chamber, while coagulated granular absorbent litter material and feces slide along elongate members of the filter grid into the discharge funnel, out the discharge chute and finally into the disposal bag. Reversal of the pivot movement just described causes the uncoagulated granular absorbent litter material within the retention chamber to pass again through the filter grid and into the tray, whereupon the pet litter facility is again ready for service as a pet privy.
