A breast scanning system scans a breast of a patient with transducer arrays that transmit and receive ultrasound signals in a bath containing a medium, such as a liquid. A table is disposable over the bath to receive the patient thereon, and has an aperture formed in the table and positionable over the bath to receive the breast of the patient pendent therethrough and into the bath. The table is linearly vertically displaceable with respect to the bath. The system includes a preconditioning tank to precondition the liquid prior to being introduced into the bath. The bath includes means for securing the breast within the bath.

Breast scanning system

An apparatus is provided for securely positioning a medical device that prevents movement of one end of the device by applying a single force. The apparatus allows a doctor to depress a pedal, which is connected to a pedal housing by way of a single shaft. Connected to the ends of the shaft are two separate linkage members. The first linkage member is attached to a ratcheting mechanism that steers the pedal into the locked position. The second linkage member is connected to a cam within the pedal housing that drives a spring-loaded plunger assembly. When the pedal is in the locked position the plunger assembly is in contact with the floor, thereby preventing movement of the device. To release the braking device, the doctor depresses the pedal slightly, which causes the ratcheting mechanism to allow the pedal, and therefore the plunger assembly, to return to their unlocked positions.

Rachet locking brake for medical devices

In accordance with at least one preferred embodiment of the present invention, a patient table is provided, the patient table comprising a patient support surface for supporting a patient during a medical procedure; a base supporting the patient support surface; a monitor displaying medical information relating to a medical procedure; and a pivot arm having a first end connected to the base and a second end connected to the monitor; a pivot release member provided on one of the monitor and the pivot arm for releasably securing the monitor and the pivot arm at predetermined angular positions with respect to the base.

Method and apparatus for moving and locking a monitor in a patient support system

A patient table with a table pivot member is disclosed. A patient support surface supporting a patient during a medical procedure is supported by a base which includes telescopic members to move the patient support surface vertically. A table pivot member connects the patient support surface to the base. The table pivot member enables the patient support surface to pivot in at least one of tilt and lateral roll directions with respect to the base. An actuating element composed of at least two actuators is connected between the patient support surface and the base to drive the patient support surface in at least one of tilt or lateral roll directions.

Mobile imaging table pivot mechanism

A system and method for positioning a medical imaging table in an imaging apparatus is presented. The imaging table includes a fixed plate, a second stage, a first stage and a gearing system. The first stage includes an imaging tabletop. The gearing system includes a pinion gear and gear racks mounted on the first and second stages. The stages of the system are geared together to move simultaneously. The imaging table is able to extend and or retract smoothly because the stages are geared together. Further, because the imaging table extends through a first stage, a second stage, and a fixed plate, the tabletop of the imaging table is more compact with a larger imaging area.

Dual stage telescoping imaging table

An imaging table leveling system for use with a medical imaging device is provided which levels an imaging table with respect to true level. The imaging table leveling system levels an imaging table before the imaging table is floated, or while the imaging table is floating. The system includes an imaging table, an inclinometer, a processor, and actuators. The inclinometer continuously measures table angle data. When activated, the processor receives the table angle data from the inclinometer. The processor then compares the table angle data to a stored level constant. The stored level constant is a measurement of true level. The processor then commands the actuators to move the imaging table until the table angle data matches the stored level constant. The table angle data is also used to correct differences in actuator rates during tilt or roll motions.

Imaging table leveling system

In accordance with at least one preferred embodiment of the present invention, a patient table comprising a patient support surface for supporting a patient during a medical procedure, a base supporting said patient support surface, a monitor displaying medical information relating to a medical procedure, and a support member mounted to said patient table for supporting said monitor, wherein said support member includes an adjustment linkage interconnecting said monitor and support member and providing movement of said monitor of the monitor relative to said support member in at least three degrees of freedom.

Method and apparatus for alignment and orientation of a monitor in a patient support system

A patient table, which is movable in at least one of a vertical direction and a tiltable direction. The patient table comprises: a base; a patient support surface; a support mechanism connected to the base and the support mechanism moving the patient support surface in at least one of a vertical direction and a tiltable direction; and a telescopic cover enclosing the support mechanism, the telescopic cover expanding and constructing with movement of the support mechanism.

Method and apparatus for covering an adjustable patient table

A brake for a medical table ( ) includes a speed detector ( ) for determining when the table speed is greater than a threshold value. If the table is moving at greater than the threshold value, the brake is prevented from engaging to prevent the patient from being jolted. When the brake is engaged, teeth ( ) of a brake tooth member ( ) mesh with a groove set assembly ( ). The teeth have central planes (A). Each of the teeth has sidewalls that define planes (P and P ) which make acute angles with respect to the respective central planes. A position detector ( ) warns an operator when the brake is not engaged. A linear bearing assembly ( ) guides the brake into the engaged position. A pawl assembly ( ) hold the brake in the engaged position until released.
